PuG's are not competitive situations, at least I don't think so.

And they shouldn't be able to do HM/NM if they can get a group capable?

No one is implying this.

The point people are making is that if you are 30% short, you can, with a damage meter, see exactly where this damage is missing.

They really are. Then again these are the same people who got "participation medals" in sports activities so what else can you expect?

I appreciate the assumption, but there'd be no way I could play 7 hours a day between work and my social life. If how much I play is that important to you, I raid once or twice a week for 2-3 hours, but otherwise maybe play an hour a day. Thanks for jumping into the conversation though.

This attitude is the very reason themepark mmos are generally crap in terms of complexity and content.

How are they supposed to provide anything challenging when players think they should be in competition WITH THEIR OWN TEAMMATES?

You guys are the very reason these games can't be even moderately challenging.

They're not normally, but they shouldn't be prevented from attempting the same content as guilds. If they can get a group of players together who have the right gear, understand the encounter and know how to play their character they can do just as well. You can check their gear, they can watch videos of the encoutner on YouTube, but currently there isn't much you can do in terms of seeing if they understand their character, without micromanaging, trial and error etc.

With damage meters for example, after 1-2 fights you would be able to see who is pulling their weight and who isn't. The alternative is to randomly swap people in/out until it works without really knowing who is trying and who isn't, for a pug, when people may only play for a few hours, this isn't ideal.

You can be in competition with yourself too. Ever try to beat one of your high scores in a game?

Go team Emo.
Whats funny is how some of us more serious gamers that actually love the star wars universe actually have no need nor desire to log in and play anymore.

Lvl 45 jug, parked at hoth, i think im done. Why. So far EVERYTHING has been way too easy, loot rains from heaven. If i wanted HAnd holding and entitlement , id go back to that other game i left nearly a year ago FOR EXACTLY THE SAME REASON....

Its sad, people like myself and the op that crave a challenge have no where to go...

Dont even tell me heroic operations btw, i did heroic raiding in wow, i dont care about the next tier of " SUPPOSED HARDNESS ". I can tell just by leveling , ALL content is way too easy...

However this doesn't really work in an MMO because you get gear upgrades and that increases your performance automatically.
