Now that's a pretty good analogy, Lazzer xD

You can't kill steal in this game. First to hit gets the credit....

I guess I have never experienced this - you mean someone just does the who screen and invites you randomly? Or do you have the looking for group up and get an invite? Are they in a different area and they invite you for no apparent reason? Then yes that would be weird and annoying but I don't see how this could be a common thing.

I will click the purple icon by someone's name if we are in the same area and its obvious that we are going for the same goals. I don't see why I need to say- hey you going to kill that guy up there? I have never had anyone refuse my invites nor has anyone complained.

I'm using the EQ terminology where kill stealing is tagging a mob that I am camping/waiting for (and have been since before you turned up at the spawn point) a split second before I do and thus blocking me from kill credits or loot rights.

I have experienced it where someone sends me an invite without a word and keeps running expecting me to accept the invite and follow them without telling me why.

Good point Lazzer. If I wonder up on someone and I know there is a mob about to spawn I will send out a party request. I hate when I have been waiting a long time for a spawn and as I approach some person tags it.

EQ you could kill steal because those who did the most damage got the credit for the kill, not those who engaged first. So you are using it wrong there too.

No. I don't mind being invited to groups. What I do mind is someone inviting me to party without showing me the courtesy of ASKING me first if I wish to party with them.

"Turn on auto-decline group invites if you are such an anti-social person. Gawd, it's an MMO, people group to do stuff."

I love to group with people in order to meet a common objective. In fact, I am usually quite enthusiastic to party up with other players...provided they are willing to behave in a social manner themselves by being POLITE. It's RUDE to ninja-invite. Is it so hard to WHISPER someone and ask them if they even WANT to do the same thing you are doing?

And incidentally, I HAVE toggled auto-decline after today...didn't even know it was an option till my husband showed me. It cheeses me off that I have to and that people are so socially stunted that they can't be bothered to ASK first.

I'm all for efficiency. But when someone just spams me with his party invite without any regard to what I may be doing, it just makes me NOT want to party with him on principle alone. Like, even if I do want to do the same thing he wants to do, Saving Face, Personal Challenge, whatever....if he sends an invite without asking first, it's a forgone conclusion that I will NOT group with that person.
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE AGREES!!!

All it takes is a "hey would you like to do <INSERT WHAT YOU WANT TO DO>"
wait for the reply of "YES!"
then send the invite.

That was changed to tag 1st from Velious onwards, old world and Kunark still had the old rule set. They changed it when they added that if you ran far enough the mob would stop chasing instead of forcing you to zone to avoid aggro.

Regardless if I am at a spawn point a few minutes before you turn up tagging the mob a split second before I do I would still consider Kill Stealing in the sense that you either group with me to share quest/loot credit or wait for me to kill and take the next spawn.

I must say with the attitude those who don't want to whisper at all have in this thread i'm quite happy to continue declining their cold invites. They're not really the sort of people i want to play with anyway.
