Merge Servers!!! Population is ruined.

I tend to be of this opinion.

I think the problems you may be running across is similar to what I have. It is tough to maintain or find groups for me on the server I typically run on. But it is also due to the community there too.

Attitudes of players are contrary to one another these days on games. Rather anyone likes it or not there are tons of opinions as to how to fix this or that. They differ drastically and thus arguing occurs. There are quite a few of us who are tired of it too.

I also don't understand how merging servers really kicks forth a negative aspect, but again opinions vary there too. And image is everything with some out there. It might be nice to have some sort of cross server pvp stuff but what is involved to make something like that happen is beyond me and I would suspect would take some coding to do.

Players have different paces in which they climb the levels though a game. I for example started off way hard core and have now backed way off. (In other words I ran way way way ahead of all the other players. And I did so though the storyline not PVP action.) I too have found it difficult to get into groups unless I'm 'riding the wave' of players leveling up which some servers seem to have.

But here is the rub from what I've seen. There are some folks out there that for whatever reason really have alienated allot of us. Endless complaining on the general chat, whining about this or that not being easy enough or too hard and on and on and on. Anyone here can insert their story about what has gone on out there. Still instead of building relationships with others to play their ************ endlessly. So it is no wonder people stick within their own circle of friends and are leery about expanding it.

If your one of those players who has done that don't be too surprised if no one wants to group with you anymore. As a prior poster stated you've probably been blacklisted.

The only thing that might work to your favor is to try another server. Yea I know it sucks to level up another toon, but it might be a better route to go. And guess what I would do? Instead of burning my way to the highest level right away . . . Would be to try out a few different servers with a few lower level toons. Test the waters so to speak I guess.

GL out there.

merging wont happen right now. no use in wanting it. bad business mojo.

the other night at 230 am est on a est pve server republic side two people were looking for 2 others for a heroic 4 content group in a mid to high level 20 zone. they were complaining about not finding any takers and whinninig about the population. there was 28 people on in the zone which is what i thought pretty high at that time of night for that level. these people too in general chat went on about population like some of you are doing.

im guilded. i dont do pick up groups. i group with my guildies who knows how to roll on loot, not go ninja afk and etc. having a higher population wont change this.

also alot of people are clueless about what prime time is for a server.

pvp is a terrible way to benchmark population. most people dont pvp on a pve server despite what you think or heard the vocal minority say. pvp is boring once you understand how to kill each class. its kinda easy too since each class will have the same cookie cutter builds for pvp. it is just fun for the children who go around finding and farming a pvp newb or a lagged out toon that cant fight back.

If you are imperial, which usually has 2-4x the population as republic, you really shouldn't be participating here. If you are on a very populated server, you shouldn't either.

All I see are 2-3 apologists that seem to have their emotional well being tied into whether this game is perceived to be doing well.

The artificial and manipulated names "standard", "heavy", etc mean nothing. It always amazes me that these easily manipulated labels hold any meaning to some people. Do you guys fall for PR speak too?

If the game's population continues to drop on a majority of servers, especially for the republic side, the game will be on life support in a few months. Could you imagine how the fragile egos of the apologists will handle that?

At the VERY LEAST, posters here should say whether they are imperial or not, so we could know to take you seriously or not.

This is nonsense. Personally, I'd add 2 classes to your worldview and that's 'realists' and 'drama queens/whiners'.
Yes, a number of servers do have low populations.
Yes, so far the majority of servers also have population numbers that could be considered healthy and thriving in any MMO.
Yes, there can be a significant difference between factions when it comes to the number of high level players or PvP participation.
No, that doesn't mean that there's a faction imbalance in overall population on all the servers, in fact the vast majority of PvE servers have no bigger difference than 1 to 1.5 ratio and quite a number of PvE servers that have more Republic players.
That is realism to you and cold, hard facts, instead of dramaqueening.

SWTOR has at the moment more players than all AAA MMO's combined except WoW, and a population that on a majority of servers beats a hell of a lot of WoW servers in ingame population numbers. Hard to tell how things will be after a few months, but so far that sounds quite healthy to me.

Actually, I would be willing to bet the majority of them having issues or low populations are Republic players. Has nothing to do with how they try to find groups.

...and their lfg system straight up sucks. Hardly used by anyone. Least they're aware of it and working on it. Should have had better tools from the start though really.

Anyways, there are some servers that need merging. At least from a faction standpoint. The problem is what do you do if the one faction does have a healthy population but the real issue is the other side is dead? Does that help the severely depleted side yet hinder the populated one? What if there are too many players on one side to even merge them without causing some serious issues for them?

They need to open the world to more people, get rid of instances. im tired of only seeing npcs on a heavy server. Instances was dumb idea, so we said in beta. They didnt listen then so why would they listen when servers are low. Emps took advantage of illum BW didnt care, servers been empty for lvling ignored again. Im not sure why you guys think BW cares about issues.

I mean they shut down the servers for stability patch on a friday, Need i say more?

If they do ever merge servers hopefully they do it where whoever created their character first gets to keep their name. I don't want to have to rename my characters if someone else has the same names.

Yes, they shut down the servers to fix a problem that a number of players were having, they clearly do that because they don't care about those players ffs...

Instances are only used when the number of players exceeds a certain point, like 200 persons in that part of the ingame world, and they do it to keep lag down and stability acceptable.

They can't merge servers. The game can't handle a lot of players in one place at the same time
Cows go "Moo", Dogs go "Woof", PVPrs go "PVP is unbalanced"

This was a problem right from launch and will get worse over time under the current system. New players and rerolls will have to be lucky or beg for hours to get enough people for the 4 man flashpoints, which is ok as those are skippable until you can solo them- however, newer players will also be turned off if they can't get through even routine and Heroic 2 content.

I think CoH solved a similar issue by making the LFG system place everyone from all servers in temps groups and place them in the instance when the group was full. This way even low pop servers could at least have full zoned PvP and flashpoints.

Another solution could be allowing the use of all companions during heroics. A Heroic 2+ would allow 2 companions out while a 4 might allow 3 compans and some hireable mercs.

You may have to make things easy for newer players coming in the future who will be turned off by almost dead newbie worlds.
