Dear Bioware, about PvP and this board...

Ok, You're still doing something I told you was bad juju back in Beta, but now you're doing it to paying customers. You're discouraging feedback. Yes, sometimes people will respond to a post to disagree with the suggestion in it. Your forum guidelines ENCOURAGE using existing threads to discuss, instead of opening a new one.

So, how does this apply to this board in particular? Well, basically, you're deleting a lot of posts and locking a lot of threads, because they contain valid discussion or feedback wrapped in a layer of sarcasm. As it turns out, saying you want to hear from your players, and make the game for us, doesn't mean you want to make discussion and feedback impossible.

A major issue, of course, is that a lot of the people you're hitting this way are the ones who don't think the system is completely broken as is.

We're tired of hearing threads screaming for nerfs, based on incomplete, incorrect, or plain made up data.

We're tired of hearing about a deserter debuff while people get randomly D/Ced from anywhere between one and twelve WZ's a day and you can't even queue an eight man premade.

We're tired of seeing dozens of threads about removing PvP gear completely, being written by people who haven't upgraded their gear since level 35, who don't even know what the resolve bar IS, who think you can ignore healers, and try to solo Battlemasters, and think Expertise is the only reason they get wrecked.

In short, yes, sometimes there's a bit of sarcasm when we respond to the 50 posts a minute about these things instead of making our own threads (Back to the forum guidelines you posted, again.) Yes, sometimes we respond to overt hostility with mockery instead of flagging the post. That's probably because we feel the need for discussion in the feedback, rather than an effort to suppress all contrary views, especially when ours are actually based in some sort of logic.

You guys REALLY need to stop knee-jerk responding to every single flag with a deletion. You're ignoring feedback from the player-base, when all we're trying to do is avoid the issue that so frequently happens in MMOs, and they die because the dev teams hear too much from the people we disagree strongly with, and eventually give in and change the design philosophy.

In short, we actually enjoy your game NOW, and want to continue doing so. So please stop deleting posts and locking threads, when we're just obeying YOUR rules by responding in existing threads.

Edit: Please, if you're going to sign this, do so in a constructive manner. I don't want this thread to become a victim of paranoid delusions. This is about legitimate grievances, not a place to nerdrage about not being allowed to nerdrage.

There's a difference between constructive feedback about the dangers of overzealous moderation and complaining about being moderated for flagrant violations of the TOS. One is a problem, the other is just consequences.

Yes, this happens regularly. I'd link to the locked thread (not mine) that finally made me post something about this, but I have a feeling they'd disapprove.

As it turns out, if you respond to hostility with sarcasm, and get flagged, they knee-jerk, delete the post, and ignore the hostility, because it agreed with the OP, or was posted by the OP.

Note the time on the post, this is NOT related to the "fu bioware" poster.

I think the worst part about their involvement in the forums isn't deleting constructive posts so much as it is that they pretty much completely ignore the entire community, even though they're obviously present when threads are being locked/posts getting deleted.

It's like asking God for some help with something and you don't get a response until you yell at your neighbor for mowing the lawn at 2 in the morning and then a giant rock flies out of the sky and crushes your garage. Knowing you're being watched but not receiving any kind of response except something that destroys is infuriating.

Hm, I'll have to keep an eye out for this. I've seen quite a number of posts that are downright insulting go without deletion, but maybe they're just not being marked.

On the other hand, those few posts that I have noticed disappear have been clearly inflammatory.

I have to agree. Someone flagged my posted due the fact that I replied to his thread in a sarcastic, but logical sense. Bioware is becoming like China.

I consider 90% of the posts in here to be trolls ... I renamed the board TVT... The dreamland where trolls go about wild. I am rather surprised they did not just close the PVP section altogether.

Classes are going to be tweaked. That's just the nature of the beast.

However, the most important thing we need to provide feedback is character copy for the PTS. Right now there's a huge disconnect between what happens on live and what changes they make on the PTS.

These things need proper testing before they get rolled out into a patch and make it into live. There's no way that's happening right now.

Hello, everyone!

We ask that threads in this forum focus on discussion of PvP topics, as they relate to Star Wars™: The Old Republic™. This in mind, we are closing this thread for being off topic. As a reminder, we understand that moderation can be frustrating, but discussing it on the forums is not allowed.

We ask that any concerns over moderation - both positive and negative - be emailed to communitysupport@swtor.com so your concerns can be addressed one-on-one. Additionally, if you would like to provide feedback about the game, please refer to AllisonBerryman's post about useful feedback, here. Thank you for your understanding.
