It's been said on other forums that less than 1% of the player base even enters the forums(for instance, I'm the only one of my group of friends that even bother to come here).

You are in the vocal minority. Don't speak for the rest of us.
You're using your opinion to degrade his opinion.

Good this is not.

There are a lot less people playing on my server but it still seems active. I don't think anyone expected everyone to stay after the first month.

The real test will be in the next couple months.

The game really isn't that good at 50, so people have to want to play alts. Unfortunately the legacy system is months away and they aren't giving out details. Very stupid on BioWar's part.

Never had that feeling... Seems that my server (Jung Ma) always has tons of people online. I will admit that it is hard to find groups for certain FPs, but I think that is just because pretty much everyone is level 50 (except for me :P)

My theory is that after the game launched, a bunch of freaks leveled to 50 in a week to get to end game so they could put a little post-it note plaque on their wall saying they had a server first kill or something. Then those people got bored or nerd ragged over something dumb like "I can't sit in chairs!" and went back to WoW.

A lot of people play MMOs just for end game. This game doesn't have a lot of end game yet...so they stopped.

The fleet isn't the best place to judge server pop if most people aren't 50 and out questing. I rarely go to the fleet.

Well... it's been a month...

Using the fleet to judge isn't quite the best method. Using the Fleet + Coruscant is a good judge, though. Most people are still rolling alts.

If you have a 50, don't even bother getting in a group unless you have a guild. Dunno why, but finding a group is a paiin right now.

Ok well I DO know why, and that's because they don't have a decent LFG feature. >_>

They created the servers for the amount of pre-order and projected population for the first month. I guess BW/EA hoped more people would keep subscribing to the game to keep the servers busy, but as it happened, a big chunk didn't keep their sub after the first month gametime was up.

People who are in a heavily populated server won't notice much, but most others will notice the emptiness of each planet. I have 4 15+ toons spread out on 2 server: Iron Citadel and Veebox Lunx (sp?). IC is a constantly heavy server (even at 1am server time) while VL is normal at primetime. On the former, my character is greeted with planet that's crowded with 150+ players. Chat is always lively, and I can get a group for h4 quest in under a minute. On the latter (VL), I'm at Taris during prime and there's ~30 online at that planet. Needless to say, I just skip through any group quest and level my alt there single player style.

I doubt we'll get a server merge anytime soon, as that's a headache (which one gets to keep the name if two same names are on the server, which guilds does the same, how will they deal with the needed downtime to merge servers which requires downtime for the cluster of servers not just the ones being merged, ect, ect) even without the scare it'll cause to the masses and the media. Server merger is pretty much the game company admitting they're failing. Not an easy thing to swallow.

People quoting populations for low pop servers typically only use the fleet as an example to relate to. For example, most nights on my server there are between 12 and 25 people in fleet and only around 225 players over all other planets, warzones, and flashpoints.

Guy played for nearly 30 days straight before he got bored. What's his problem again?

I don't get it. I seriously think some of these people that bored need to take a few days off the game. I can't play a game that long before I have to take a break. Just think about trying to give yourself more options to what you can do in any given day. I give myself a lot of options, usually I choose to play video games.

It's a bit quieter than launch, but that's to be expected. My guild is fairly active, so I don't have a problem.

(Unrelated note: Also, I saw tons of people saying STO was dead, and I've been in quite a number of Fleet Ops, quite a blast.)

The game appeared very dead to me until I finally decided to change servers and switched to the Fatman. Now there are three hundred people in fleet during prime time, and most planets have a humdred people leveling up.

I really wish that Bioware would have tried to be pre-emptive and allowed transfers as I would have rather transferred than started from scratch. I really prefer Republic but am now Empire as I have already played the Republic stories multiple times. So, I am now level 30 on Fatman and have six toons, two 50s, 31, 20, and an 18 on a dead server.

Checked in last night on my old Guild last night on the old server, 29 players in fleet and only eleven were 50s. Everyone standing around wishing they could do something.

Bioware would have had my praise if they would have taken action on this earlier, as the dead servers will not recover. New players are not going to roll on a server where they fell like they are isolated and alone.
