Hey everyone,

Well, it's that time of year again when the holidays are upon us. As with last year, we will also be doing updates tomorrow (12/25) and on New Year's Day (1/1). That said, the developers are on a well deserved vacation and while we will be having these updates, please do not expect any major announcements. It's best to have the appropriate people on hand when doing such things in case there are any questions the Community Team cannot answer as definitively as those who developed it.

Also, until the new year comes, the updates will be in English only. We sincerely apologize for this and contemplated not putting these updates up until they could be localized in both German and French and release them all at the same time as we've done previously. But, due to the time of year, we feel the community as a whole would appreciate more getting these now rather than not getting any updates until the second week of January. We will do our best to ensure this situation does not happen again, though.

While we've talked about this previously, I would like to bring up the point again about our updates. I know many would like all the information now but, as I'm sure everyone understands, no matter how often we update the website, it won't make the game get developed faster. In fact, the reverse is closer to the truth of how we release our updates. We only want to release things we are confident in having little to no changes. This is how we are with all of our information. And while I know waiting can seem to take an eternity, we feel it is much better for the community in the long run to release accurate information on how something does work instead of how we hope or plan on things to work.

That all said, it's been quite a year. This time last year we had a smaller community and our updates were along the lines of our December Media Update and the December Fan Friday. Throughout the course of 2009, our community has grown considerably, we've revealed all eight (8) of our classes, announced six (6) more planets, we displayed the first cinematic trailer for TOR, our community has expanded to the French and German languages, we started our Developer Dispatch, Threat of Peace webcomic, and the Timeline series, and we have even shown TOR at a few conventions.

But 2009 is about to be behind us and we're not only stepping into a new year but a new decade. Before that begins, we hope everyone is enjoying time with their friends and families during these holidays and we hope you join us in 2010!

so, what are we going to get tomorrow? I'm not saying that we should get a major announcement tomorrow, but i mean will tomorrow be a Fan Friday, will it be something really minor/trivial?

If it is something minor/trivial any chance you could add in a Scrambled Message that we can attempt to Descramble?

Has it been a year already? 2009 flew by for me. Happy Holidays everyone. Here's to hoping that everyone has a good 2010 *raises champagne*. I know it's a week or so early, but so what?

But what would be cool, would be a Friday Update clarifying some of what had recently been stated [especially in regards to the Voice Over comment from Will Beckham]

DH: We have been told that players have the option of making their characters a non-human species. Will all players be voiced in “galactic basic”, be it English, French, or German, or will some be able to speak in an alien language, similar to Jory in the Bounty Hunter demo?

WB: The players will have the option of creating non-human player characters. However all of the player characters will speak basic as much of the entertainment in the conversations comes from the player character responses.


Does that mean:

1. Only the Species that can Speak Basic WILL BE Playable
2. All Playable Species will be speaking Basic, regardless of whether or not they could speak Basic normally
