Now how exactly is that a problem? If somebody wants to take the time to write out a 1-button-win combo, why not?

I wouldn't do that, but some people would.

I really hate games that have those long macro systems. One step below the games that have the auto-farming "features".. .yea it's called botting - thx, i'll be back in an hour to collect my gold.

WoW is the only other MMO I played, so I wouldn't say I'm a hardcore mmoer or anything. But having played since release I remember what it was like when it came out. MUCH different than it is now.

At release, wow had no:
Warzones (battlegrounds)
Open world pvp
Valor (honor)
LFG system
Cross-server anything
Faction balance (still doesn't really)
UI customization
Quest objective help
Chat bubbles
...and numerous other things that would now be considered standard.

Now SWTOR has released with many of those things, along with FAR greater stability. Was it released with all of them? No, but only within the Blizzard development team is it known for sure whether some of those things were an actual improvement or not. There were droves of people crying for NO LFG system prior to launch because it "damaged the community" or some such thing. Now those folks have fallen conspicuously silent, and droves are crying for a system.

Bioware is not privvy to all of Blizzards trade secrets. It's their first delve into the genre, and it has gone WAY better than Blizzards. Just like Blizzard did, Bioware will constantly improve upon the game. I'm confident we'll see a LFG system (a better one) before long. This dev team will learn its own trade secrets, and eventually polish out all the bugs/imbalances that are present.

The bottom line is this game in its release state is head and shoulders above what WoW was in its release state. I can't wait too see what they can do with it with a couple years of iterative improvements, as the other game had.

It's already pretty awesome, and it can only get better.
Comparing WOW at release to TOR at release is ignorant... at best. TOR developers have technology available to them that WOW did not have at its initial release. Further, WOW didn't have 5-10 other MMOs to learn from like TOR does.

Bearing that in mind. The reason those features were added is because WOW listened to its player base and implemented them.

TOR customer service can't even resolve a single ticket without closing it and spamming our email with auto-responders.

I just enjoy the constant complete dismissal of games like rift, born a mere year ago, and at launch kick this game all the way back to B.C.

flicked thru a few pages. all i see is the SAME crap ppl yap on about to try and sound smart. using all these different examples to try and make their case about wow release vs tor release vs 7 years ago etc etc etc. ive seen movies, tvs, cars, FRPs games, single player rpg's etc etc all used to try and explaim to the other side.

ppl. you do not sound smart. you are all just beating a dead horse. you thinnk that your one great analogy will be the one that FINALLY makes the other side see reason. accept it. some ppl see the situation differently. it is not that they do not understand what you are saying, they are saying they do not agree.

To be fair though, blizzard did not listen the playerbase all that much. Anyone remember the original LFG system, the "meeting stones"? You had to run to the dungeon entrance to click on the meeting stone and it'll add RANDOM people into your group for that particular dungeon. That's it!

It was there for like a year while blizzard kept begging people to give the system a shot. Their big improvement was making it so you can use the innkeeper as meeting stones too. Pretty funny actually.

Yes, but now a good format of the system has been established.
Bioware isn't being asked to invent toast with wheat and a lighter.

You know each and every single post that has these comparisons also has posts like yours, that basicly says "Stop discussing this topic already! I want to see positive reactions / valid concerns on the forums".

So, thank you for completing another circle.

Go build a batch of Delorean's and see how fast you sell out using old technology.
