I agree with OP.

Some of you have good points but the main thing is still first impression, and learning curve.

I had a blast playing this game from moment one and I LOVE the questing system. The Flashpoints are so much damn fun, especially Black Talon. Agreed I'm not that high level yet but if content, bug fixes and patches continue to prevail then I will stay for the long haul.
When all the humans leave do you think droids tell each other racist jokes?

Rift had those, and more, with no bugs, great graphics, good pvp system that made sense (i would not call what SWTOR has a real pvp system) an engaging class system (all of the SWTOR classes are just rips off of WoW Classes for the most part, with seldom exceptions).

Rifts first content update (3 weeks after release) puts the SWTOR 1.1 to shame.

Rift had macros, a customizable UI at release.

Rift had...a COMBAT LOG

(How the hell dont we have a combat log?)

You can't compare a game that's 1 month old with...oh wait, ok, nvm.
Hard mode: Play Republic
Nightmare mode: Play Republic on a pvp server

rift macros were a joke. you could put 15+ abilities on a single button. even reactives.

Warzones (battlegrounds)
The queue time is 30 minutes to 1 hour during peak hours on my server, they completely stop after midnight and don't come up again untill 15:00 or so, hardly worth it!
Open world pvp
Without any kind of reward, hooray!
Valor (honor)
Those that talk to a cross-faction guild and farm it in Illum > Rest.
LFG system
There is no decent LFG system in Swtor.
Cross-server anything
Not in Swtor.
Faction balance (still doesn't really)
Swtor is far from balanced, there's 3 Republic in Illum at one time TOPS and it's only Huttball, you're extremely lucky if you get one other game every 7 days, best pray it doesn't end after 120 seconds because chances are great it will.
UI customization
There is none and the upcoming changes are pathetic, just give add-ons already.
Quest objective help
True enough, though it makes questing extremely easy.
Chat bubbles
Again, not available.

Every game has it's issues, swtor just had more than the average game.

Okay I'm getting tired of people saying this game will fail by comparing it to others.

It's not about what a game has at launch but what it adds.

Rift: It had a ton of features at start and was a good game for a bit, but they failed in new content are they reused content with a new name and look waaay to often it failed.

WoW: As we all know it didn't start with much leveling was harder then SW:TORs and you had to work for gear and items, but slowly it made content easier for a broader market so far that now everyone wants everything handed to them and they forgot what a real MMO is.

Why did BioWare start with less content? Because, they cannot just copy and paste WoW's code over and make it happen they have to do it themselves and that takes time. Also, more content = more bugs, and I think we can all agree that there is alot of bugs that need fixing. So wait and give them time to write the code and get everything working, I'd rather wait on content then have it more buggy then it is.

To those that are bored, if you reached 50 in 10 hours or rush all your chars spamming spacebar then complain there wasn't enough content it's your dammed fault. This game was not meant to be rush through and skipped over all the quests because you didn't want to listen yeah the game will see lacking and dead.

TL;DR?
**** and wait.

Ah, so that's why Rift was bad. Thanks for clearing that out. I can now see clearly why rift is worse than swtor.

I played RIFT from start for about 5 months, it sucked.
30 some odd days is far to early to tell how a game is going to do when judging MMOs

Why did Bioware start with less content? Because, frankly, there was enough content for launch; not that many people are complaining about a lack of content anyway... The more important question is why Bioware started with less functionality, they certainly had the time and budget to do better.

Bearing in mind that we're a month into the game, when is it 'ok' to hit level 50?

both its post-beta and 1.1 patch were insane, yet somehow bw gets all the credit for fixing like... 4/3000 screw ups?

You can't, thats not enjoying the game, if you're going to enjoy it, it must be the way someone else wants you to.

I'm starting to think BW Fanboys are democrats.
