I can say with all honesty before I started reading these forums I didn't care if TOR was a smash hit or not. I just wanted to play and enjoy, and so I did.

After seeing all the blatant haters trying to social engineer the game to die, suddenly I'm hoping the game crushes all competition. I feel that it will in time. I literally cannot wait for a couple more months to go by so the haters finally run out of ammo.

Currently it is highly successful. It's the future that's up for debate.

That being said I do not expect swtor to have 7 years of content.
I do expect swtor to have the same ease of access to game play that wow AND other games do.
Swtor is missing common mmo tools.
The ui customization
The lack of lfg system
The lack of target of target window
The lack of add on support
The lack of macro system
The lack of graphic settings
The lack of appearance system
The lack of dye system (some thing wow does not have yet but others do)
The lack of using mission items from the mission tracker

What y our saying is that it would be ok for a new TV manufacture to release a line of TV's with out remote controls because so many years ago TV's didnt have remotes!

I know i would be highly upset if i bought a brand new 50" TV only to open the box and find no remote. Instead a note that says hey we are new to making TV's and will are looking into making remotes available some time down the road.
Rift had most of that and although it's a successful game, it hasn't mirrored WoW. Even if SWTOR had all that, it probably wouldn't make that much difference either.

WoW is an anomaly, a one-off. In my opinion we will never ever see another MMO top 10 million subs.
Space, is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mindbogglingly big it is. I mean you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space...

Good joke, mon.

Unless by Successful you mean it caters to the people that have nothing else decent to play atm. Then yes, it is very successful. We'll see from March how it goes.
Hard mode: Play Republic
Nightmare mode: Play Republic on a pvp server
Are you man enough for the challenge ? Aunt Satele wants YOU.

I'll agree with the OP that this game is in good shape for this stage of development.

There were a lot of features in place at release, but there’s still a lot of room to improve, which I’ve no doubt they have the budget for.

In a year’s time, I’m sure we’ll all be laughing at what the game was and now is.
An enemy on your six should stay on your six, or at least try too.

Hehe you're new to MMO forums, aren't you? This is in EVERY SINGLE forum.

WoW is supposed to be dead since Vanila, and so is Rift, EQ1, etc. etc. etc.

That can probably be said about a lot of games, including the king itself.

Not exactly new to MMO forums. Not exactly places a visit that regularly though. The WOW board is very similar.

The Everquest boards don't seem so similar. The difference I see is people aren't trying so hard to get other people to quit, or view the game as they do. It might be nothing new, I don't get how it hasn't gotten old for people.

It isn't and will never be.
