its not laziness its that the process is tedious and is an uneeded time sink.

So how to you get from the shuttle to your ship? They can't dock to your ship!
It's to add some "realism" to the fact that you aren't putting a shuttle on your ship

that argument is moot. i use a laser sword in space, having me do something tedious for realism after that is just poor game design.

it's all about content. actually, it's all about the lack of content. the cut scenes are so fantastic and the voice acting so expensive and spectacular. the story lines are so unbelievable.

the truth is a lot of this stuff, such as the orbital station madness, is the smoke and mirrors; the mud you trudge through to get somewhere seemingly not so far away. it's all here hiding the fact that if you stripped the game and its world down to bare essentials, it's really very tiny with a severe lack of substance.

if there weren't so many obstacles in the way of questing, people would cap 50 in 2 days tops. all of this stuff is in your way, slowing things down for a reason. and they aren't going to change it because it would expose the emptiness of this game to the oblivious masses.

Seriously... I hate those orbital stations and shuttles. The only purpose they seem to serve is to have a spot where they can intercept you with a quest-giver on the way to the planet, but why couldn't they do that in a spaceport on the ground, like some of the other planets?

14 steps to get to the planet is absurd.

Kinda reminds me of DA2 with all the reusing of same houses, caves you name it was all reused

Laser sword in space?
In your ship maybe [where you CAN use melee weapons, and its preferred over blasters :P]
But I don't recall ANY part of the game being outside in space.

I'm sorry you disprove of it, but I'd rather click my "ship" to board my ship, rather than a random shuttle that mysteriously transforms to my ship.

4. load screen (a few seconds)
5. run to map (a few seconds)
6. activate map and pick planet (a couple of seconds)
7. run to door (a few seconds)
8. space bar through movie (a second)
9. load planet (quite a few seconds, can be a long time)
10. run through hangar to elevator (a few seconds)
11. take elevator (a couple of seconds)
12. run to shuttle (a few seconds - depending on how far away, and shouldn't this be Taxi stand?)
13. take shuttle (what's this?)
14. take speeder to destination (quite a few seconds, can be a long time)

This is absolutely ridiculous. I have had friends quit half way through leveling because of how tedious it is to go anywhere. It should not take 14 steps and two loading screens to get to where I need to go ever.

I know there is story on some orbital stations and quests to pick up on arrival. Fine have us go there the first time we arrive at a planet but after that just have me 'use a shuttle' to get down when i travel to a planet.

Have an option to disable take off/arrival movies. After the first time you see them there is no reason I have to sit through them or spam space bar again and again.
Really, the only significant chunks of time are the planet loading and time getting to the destination on the speeder. All that other stuff doesn't take long at all.

Cheers.

the over time sink of traveling in this game actually has me tempted to speedhack >.<

I am willing to donate a large number of my credits to the republic to facilitate either

A: The construction of a space port on planets currently lacking them.

B: To upgrade the orbital space stations with docking bays to be used by players.
Oh bother.
