Cross Faction Communication

They should allow player created cross-faction chat channels that are invite only, that way there is no smack talk, but you can invite your real life friends.

No issues as far as I can see.

If I have friends who are playing on the opposite faction, then I can talk to them on Vent/TS/Skype and other forms of communication if I really want to.

I really want to see this happen. I have RL friends that I'd like to chat to, or arrange heroics with, but half the time they're playing an alt of the opposite faction - I can't even tell they're in game without resorting to out-of-game communication channels.

- allow cross faction friends lists, and whispers from cross faction people who are on that friends list.
- allow custom channels to be cross faction.

If needs be, this can be for RP-PvE servers only, which are more about co-operation than ganking.

EvE has a complete different set up though, like I said I'm sure they'd have it if they could (dunno what EvE CSR is like, but it's only a small company to start with).




Ignore lists don't stop the CSR system being flooded, not being able to have the situation in the first place however does.

Maybe, but it's still taking in game resources away from other much more important things, to set something up that most servers have with a 3rd party program anyway.

And if you're playing with RL friends these days a small Vent server is less than an MMO sub.



On the list of things to possibly change in SWTOR, this stuff has got to be very near the bottom.

Well the "General" chat is more or less the same except it shows your avatars face next to the line of text Griefing still happens all the time infact what i'm saying and as far as I know CCP just say "Ignore List" Problem solved.

An automatic answer saying "Any situation that can be solved by PvP is not a matter for Customer Service, If someone personally insults you, we are sorry for the inconvenience. Please ignore the individual in question and you will have no further contact with them."

I've been insulted a couple of times by members of my own faction, lucky for me i'm thick skinned and really can't be ar*ed with whether some Keyboard Warrior thinks i'm a virgin or gay or the ultimate insult........... a Noob! OH NOES!

and they can show naked bewbs in AoC so why can't we have them here?

T*ts and Communication are two totally different. Unless your a big breasted woman and use them to get into Nightclubs but then that would be off-topic.

Star Wars Lore had Space Ships before EvE was even made... Does that mean EvE shouldn't have had them?

The main thing people want them for is not to grief but to talk to people while they play the opposite faction. Its not really too much to ask. Even if its just friends lists so certain people.

Ignore list solves the case of text griefers. Simple, anything else can be solved by PvP or running away and waiting til your Flag wears off if your into Carebear servers.

the game would pick up more subs with t*ts than with adding cross faction chat tho...

We actually do have a vent server but I disagree about it being really low down the priority list, I think it should be quite high up considering talking to friends is a key aspect of any multiplayer game.

Now making emotes work while on mounts was something that I think should be low on the list, but it clearly wasn't. I expect that was because it was a simple fix, and I can't see this taking much longer as it is more likely about removing the block than adding a new feature.
