NO to this idea.. its cross-factioned for a reason.. its conflict based.. why would you want to chat to your enemy????

If yu wanna add friends fine, add them in your faction, but when you want to play cross factioned then just add them to your MSN or Skype or Ventrillo system.. easy done.. then you can chat to your hearts content without bunging up the general chat channels and such.. heck you can even have real conversations instead.

I don't .care. what other faction MMOs do. did you not read where I said .this. is the reason why I normally don't play them? someone won't be my enemy just because they are on the other faction (I play both factions anyway!)

Well traditionally on MMO PvP servers it's a common occurance to have a physical "KOS list" and "honourable list", so why not? It's not really a hard thing to do.

But I think whether you care or not has little to do with it I'm afraid, the reasons why almost all faction MMOs do it is above, and I doubt Bioware will be daft enough to change that (they didn't in WAR in their 1.5 year controlling it). Like I said even having say is pretty surprising (and being able to have both sides on 1 server).
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

wait a second, I repeatedly said I don't care and think it's stupid and you keep telling me 'that's what they always do'?
really?

what 'reason' is above?

I'll tell you what: I play a light-side sith warrior as one char. I actually teamed up with a jedi in my class quest. I told said jedi we'd be friends but I couldn't join his case since I want to change the empire from within. not being able to .actually. communicate with the other faction is kinda... uh... counterproductive.

My post above my last one, it fills up CSR with daft tickets and escalates griefing issues.

But I really don't understand your big issue, you talked to the opposite faction in say (which you couldn't do in most factional MMOs), why did you need more?

And how does that need outwieght flooding the CSR system with endless ganking and smack talking complaints?

You can do it in EvE thats what i'm saying

You make a character based on a Race but you could go over and join the opposition "Faction" if you want. I'm not saying I was faction changes in this as EvE and SWTOR are COMPLETELY different games, but comms are still mostly text based and you can talk to the Enemy after a fight... Or during if your that good lol.

Like I keep saying give us an option to ignore certain players who are the "I just ***** you hard rofltrolololol" kind.

Personally I would very rarely get in touch with opposing faction players except maybe if they nearly beat me but I get a lucky crit and kill them "Congratz good fight thought you had me then!"

I was going backwards and forward with a Republic Trooper last week on my Merc. She had the better geared companion but I had the better gear (I'm basing that just on HP of course, so thats what I 'thought') only just though, She killed me the first time while I was with Mako, then when Gault came back off a mission I killed her easy. It went back and forward like this for about 10 minutes, We both - after each dying at least 4 times - just had one last Mexican Stand off and backed off towards our individual questing areas (We were both doing the Nar Shaddaa bonus series. Well I was and i'm guessing she was too).

I'd have loved to get in touch and cyber high-five him/her for the best World 1v1 PvP i've had in SWTOR.

'Because everybody else does it' is NEVER a valid reason to do something.

For the most part, the gameworld exists in a state of Cold War - there's a treaty (which everyone is edging around), but no open warfare. Why SHOULDN'T it be possible to communicate with people on the other side of the Iron Curtain? There's even a trade-system in place that allows Pubs and Imps to buy stuff from one another.

Yes, on PvP servers, it could result in a lot of arguing. But... so what? Never argued with someone on your own faction? You must be friggin' GHANDI then. Idiots are everywhere, regardless of faction, and the cure is called /ignore.

Of course, an 'enable cross-faction chat' option wouldn't be a bad thing. Give those people who see to think it improves their 'immersion' to be unable to hear half the players on the server a chance to keep things the way they are. But those of us who have friends on both sides should be able to chat with them without needing to switch chars, and without using a third-party system like vent.
Your lack of grammar... disturbs me.

Adding the enemy to your friends list lol, So yo can see when they log on and gank them.

I cant believe this thread was even made, surly everyone understands the reasons why this is not possible and has never been possible in an MMO.

It may not be conventional in MMOs, but I think they should add cross-faction friends lists in this game, and the ability to /w your friends.

The story-driven nature of this game encourages the creation of alts to a far greater degree than other MMOs. It makes no sense to me that the game prevents you knowing if one of your friends is currently playing on the other faction. Many people are going to have multiple characters on both factions.

Perhaps they should go furhter than that and have some mixed faction raids. Both factions could be threatened by some mysterious third force, forcing them to tell their finest warriors to co-operate etc etc. Why not? Would be fun.

Would help mitigate low server pops and faction imbalances too.

How would they do this? It only tells them that what planet they are on? Is someone going to scour an Entire planet just to find one person? Sad. Ba*tards. Too much effort for Zero Gain other than "Ha I killed you"

Even though my Server pop is really good, this would be slightly awesome

Can't see it happening though lol

I still want my /teabag emote!!!!!!!!!!

it encourages good sportsmanship...
