Good luck trying to participate in raids. I know I wouldn't take you in guild raids.

But you can? I don't understand what you're saying. Of course in the real world there are consequences, not so much in an MMO, LOL Black listing LOL not withstanding.

players who don't know how to gear their class go on my ignore list. I don't want to group with them, and I would probably drop group if I ever met someone who pulled that at 50. Helping stupid people to succeed is just not worth the irritation.

Yes, of course. But just because you are in a videogame dosent mean that you have to be an egoist, right? After all you ar playing togetherr with other people

That was just an extreme example, no harm intended

Then you're just as bad as they are. You'd ostracize them because they don't play the way you want them to, as though you were an authority of some sort in the game. How unfortunate for you. I would hope you don't live your life outside the game in the same fashion, where the consequences are a lot more immediate and consistent.

You're assuming they "don't know how to gear up their class", when in the paradigm of this discussion, they might just want a particular mod out of a set of three, or perhaps they want the mods for an orange piece a companion of theirs is wearing, whose stats match those of the item perfectly.

By all means, keep putting people on ignore. You're doing them a much greater favor than you are yourself.

I hate bloody ninjas. If I was the one making SW:ToR's rules of conduct, I would have made this:

1 confirmed ninja report equals GM warning
2 confirmed ninja reports equals temporary ban
3 confirmed ninja reports equals permanent ban

Ninjas ruin the player community of the game.

If I want some item for my companion or for its mods. I always wait and make sure that nobody needs this items for his character and even then I ask in party chat if everyone is alright with me selecting need. It is the matter of being polite... a pitty that people sometimes act like 10yo kids who think they are the center of the universe.

As per my observation earlier, I find it intriguing that it’s the people displaying no concerns for utility (e.g. Eldren’s signature) after collectively earning something that are the ones attempting to convince people that penalties are unenforceable or that we should rely on ‘the system’ rather than informal conventions or social contracts. It’s clearly to your advantage to tell people that such is impractical or to discourage them from trying, it’s imperative to your ‘survival.’

The simple fact of the matter is that consensus is never reached in any domain of this nature and we cannot really rely on individual sovereignty as we would in reality due to the fact that everything is collectively earned thus collectively owned. Consequently, we can only rely on majoritarian approaches. In a domain like this, I see nothing wrong with ‘mob rule’ provided that people are ostracised based on reasonable evidence. I encourage metaphorical pitchforks. In reality, I'm a social libertarian but I don't apply that here because I recognise that the dynamics are very different. If people have no concern overall utility, why should I have any concern for their desires?

You mean just like it works in any other domain where individual sovereignty can't apply due to the ramifications it has for others, whether online or in reality? Let's strong-arm people into playing with those they fundamentally disagree with so that the individual they disagree with consistently gets advantages. If a person is placed on an ignore list or their actions made known to the 'public' sphere then people choose to reject them too, just as the person chose to reject the values of those people. I fail to see how that is 'unfortunate,' you're contradicting yourself. You're stating people shouldn't compel people to abide by their rules via social pressure then berating people with the only pragmatic purpose being that they'll feel compelled to take people they fundamentally disagree with. It's absurd and your agenda is obvious.

It does kind of boil down to Morals. I mean, sure, the player that can benefit the most from the piece feels "entitled" because the loot was made for his/her class so he/she feels it should be his/her loot. Mean while, player B feels that because he's/she's in the run as well, he's/she's entitled to roll on anything he/she wants regardless. Both feel entitled, but one DEFINITELY doesn't have the morals to show common courtesy to the others in the group that are helping out.

So, if you have no morals, need away. But again, don't get all up in arms when someone gets mad and blasts you all over the gen chat, because it WILL happen. No one likes wasting their time and grouping with a ninja is definitely that. Especially people that actually try to make an argument about how their ninjaing is some how ok and YOU'RE the one in the wrong for thinking you actually deserve that chest piece that you needed.... you know, the one that was your sole reason for joining the group in the first place.

This is why you roll with a group of people you trust.

Irrational lootwhore isn't a new breed.
Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money.
They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with.

Some men just want to watch the world burn.
