There are a few instances of hard targets that arent on the screen long enough to kill normally, i suppose the protons are the only way to take out those. It isnt a huge bonus, it can only be done daily, it is just a little extra for doing extra on the mission.
You don't have to be super outleveled for the mission to do them successfully, either. It helps to have slightly better gear than the mission recommends, certainly, but usually we are just talking about spamming missiles while you have your power put to shields. The antenna tower on the station attack mission is particularly easy once you learn to watch for when it comes into view. It takes the same number of missiles too, regardless of level.

I find the mini game to be a nice break from the rest of the game, and theres XP to be had too Look forward to seeing what BW adds to it, its fun now tho(and sometimes even challenging).

Anyway, I really, really hope they expand this mini-game, as the potential is awesome. But yeah, it needs work.

Speaking of mini-games, where is my Pazzak!
I agree with this. Even the Pazaaak part.
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

Playing Since 12-13-2011

I've read somewhere that destroying the engines affects their aim. It could just be observer error, but I think thats right, it seems like I avoid more damage if I do that.

I enjoy most of it. I don't mind the attack pattern thing, the one that annoys me is that in the asteroid intensive fights you need to memorise the course through the asteroids. Inevitably the first time or two through you'll go to dodge to once side and the auto-path will swing your right into that giant rock because you guessed wrong.

Cheers.
Same experience here last night. The ships appeared to fall after destroying basically everything on them. Could be new, I didn't notice it the first few times I ran through the easier missions.

It would do the exact same thing if you hit it or not. My friend and I already argued this one till I showed him he was mistaken. If you blow up every last hard-point on a ship or if you don't touch it, they follow the exact same path each run. Nothing changes.

I wish it wasn't like that I'd love to see some change based on what I hit on a ship or miss. I'd love to just blow ships up altogether. We just can't yet.

That's Frank the engineer, he's quite upset that you just destroyed all his hard work.
