Every MMO has the same thing, yet people strangely only have an issue in it with TOR lol

People seem to be under the impression that maintenance should not affect their play-time. Just get it into your head that it will affect your play time once a week. Then, if it doesn't, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Cheers.

I would like server maintenance to be pushed back a couple of hours at the very least.
2am cst is way to early and i think everyone would agree. Think about the west coast people, midnight? MIDNIGHT? id shoot myself. im going to GUESS that theyre making 30-40% of their player base in the PST cut their night of swtor short. This has to stop. Push this crummy maintenance back two hours!
The current maintenence times are in my peak play times (7pm->after I would have stopped to go to bed on a Tuesday night [which for me also happens to be my Friday night!]). (East Coast Australia if you were wondering)

So my suggestion would be to stick to the same day, and rotate the times so that I am not inconvenienced the same way every week, and everyone shares the inconvenience.

Postponing maintenence is a relief on the day it's postponed, but if it isn't postponed for entire week, and is scheduled for another day, it can mess up guild's plans for runs that take a lot of time to organise. I would ask that this situation be avoided unless it is absolutely critical.

You play late at night, sorry but that is the most obvious time for maintenance. It's only once a week normally, you will survive just like myself and everyone else
No, that is the least obvious time. The most obvious time would be in daytime hours when everyone is at school or work.

Lord, 6 hours without a game drives people to post things like this? It'd be sad if it weren't laughable.

I'm very close to going back to WoW, inches away from it and this is the LAST thing you should want.

I love how people think they're talking for me.

I like maintenance the way it is.

You can do the kind of maintenance you're talking about (which is a completely different kind of maintenance than the one being discussed, and completely irrelevant) at any time.

We're talking about patch maintenance here. It's really ironic that you're coming in here and spouting irrelevant nonsense and then accusing someone else of being stupid.

They are not two different things. The maintenances are so they can patch. Again, what you're saying is not relevant to this topic in any way.

This is possible now, unless they're patching. And what happens during every maintenance? They patch. I realize you're all puffed up and proud of yourself for your logic and reasoning skills, and I hate to break this to you, but you're totally ignoring reality here.

imtrick, hope you are enjoying that no-clue cookie, should be not too hard to find for someone 'smart' like you.

But maybe you will need help... just as apparently you are in need of having BW's official maintenance advice rubbed in your face.

To quote:

"For our new players, this weekly maintenance is done in order to make general improvements and to check performance of the game so that we can continue to provide a consistent, quality experience. Quite often (but not always) after a maintenance period there will a patch to download. Please be sure to update your launcher after any maintenance period." (see latest note at http://www.swtor.com/blog/scheduled-...uary-24th-2012)

Just because BW has done a patch with every planned weekly maintenance (and if you have been gaming SWTOR the last couple of weeks you will know that things have varied from what BW was advising as having planned: shortened 'maintenance i.e. 3.5 instead of 8 hrs with a patch upload, followed by another 'maintenance' the next day which once more included patching...) does - obviously - according to BW not mean that every maintenance will actually include a patch.

It may... but it's not set in stone!

So yes, dear imptrick, instead of going all high and mighty and saying what I'm talking about is it 'completely irrelevant' how about you actually trying to figure out what people here ARE talking about.

Because 'patch maintenance' DOES NOT EQUAL weekly maintenace schedule - understood? Or am I going too fast?

By the way, don't fall too much in love with yourself, could be unhealthy @

This shows how little you understand the concept of timezones.

If you check the thread again, we have had a poster from Hawaii, which just happens to be 2 hrs behind PST.

So a global 2am CST maintenance actually means servers down for him at 10pm - serves those surfer dudes just right, doesn't it?

Do I have to mention Alaska?

So, in what way is the current schedule fair to anybody but 2 timezones i.e. EST and CST?

For Europe the start will be in the not so early morning hours, definitely not while the majority of people are sleeping. Many may be in school or at work but ever considered that regional holidays may potentially interfere? So rather than chance a 'well, let's just hope there's nobody at home trying to play' how about being just as fair to the Europeans as BW is to EST and CST: do it in the very early morning hours!

For the Westcoast of North America, how about starting maintenance there at 3am PST? Would be identical to the timeframe for EST and would give both Hawaii and Alaska a nice chunk of extra time to play.

That's what is called fair!

The thing is that BW will have to reconsider their maintenance strategy eventually as the AUS/NZ release of SWTOR is getting ever closer. And up until now I have not seen any indication that SWTOR will be run by another company than BW down there, so any potential AUS/NZ servers... well, are they going to take those down while it is definitely not off-peak gaming time for that neck of the woods just because ALL servers are coming down?
