I am posting juste because I feel important to express my frustration about this matter to the developers.
I am French, so playing on an european server, and the fact that both american and european zone have their matinenance at the same time is totally unfair for one in the end..(now for european players in my opinion..)
Please split these maintenances and offer the best and suitable time for each!

Someone somewhere wont be happy no matter the times, like some have said though, i am curious why relatively small updates, or considered small, do take 6 hours to impliment.
Why do they call you Bodom? Is it like the drum beat, Bodom-Chh?

Do the update once during the day in the US and see the servers crash under the weight of QQ.

There is no "good time" for maintanence. Someone will always be faced with getting kicked from the game when they want to play; it's a big world.
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

Playing Since 12-13-2011

Because other MMOs have region-locked clients, as I said.

Everyone who plays TOR uses the same client, and the client and server need to be the same version to log in. They can't update US and European clients separately, since they're the same client. If Europe is updated first, the US will get pushed the new client before their servers are ready for it, and vice versa.

Without region-locked clients that can be updated separately, you can't have separate server maintenances.

So region lock the client!! That's a stupid excuse.

The best time is where there are the fewest players on (statistically)... and I'm giving BW the benefit of the doubt in determining when this time is, not some random forum poster.

First instinct: Oh my gawd, here we go again, this time obviously the other way round!

We have been thru all the arguments and quite frankly many are based on someone having no clue!

Listen, M-A-I-N-T-E-N-A-N-C-E doesn't automatically mean P-A-T-C-H-I-N-G!

You can run maintenance i.e. checking that the servers are a-okay, take them down, start them up, etc. without a) having to install a patch and b) without all servers having to come down.

Or should you actually not have noticed that we had individual servers down/worked on without other servers being effected? If not, well... open your eyes and maybe check updates once in a while

So, running 1 client for every region will only be a problem at that point when you are updating server/client/launcher.

Most MMOs do this patching within 1 - 3 hours depending on the size of the update.

Which - and I honestly hope you understand this, dear Pink_Saber - taking down servers at regionally suitable times would not be a problem, even with just 1 non-regional client, if BW had not set out to combine both maintenance and patching...

Nobody here would have any major problem if 'their' server is down for 6 hrs (big improvement compared to the initial 8 hrs!) when a) it's from say 2AM till 8AM, and b) it actually allows you to use another server in that time.

And I assume that nobody would really have any major issues if all servers came down from 1amPST/4amEST/9amGMT/10amCET till at max 4amPST/7amEST/noonGMT/1pmCET...

Yep, you need to clean your cave once a week.
Congrats, here is a no-clue cookie, now go and eat it while the grown-ups are talking!

Seriously, have you ever heard of unemployment? Of shift-work? Or have you ever done 'household stuff'? No to mention being in a school that maybe starts at 8 (or earlier) and only goes until 1pm or 2pm? Should I even mention such odd things like college and university?

Why does it take 6 hrs to do a small patch? Because the patch is actually an addon to the maintenance BW is doing! Please read the maintenance advice BW is always posting and to be more specific the part for the new gamer!

If (and while I already said this up there somewhere) BW were to separate maintenance and patching (as they have actually done ) patching downtime would be much short (most likely) and maintenance time could be separated by region.

But this has been said many, many, many times by now, whether BW does it or not, I honestly don't care as I got my DAoC sub up again so if I don't feel like playing SWTOR (or can't due to maintenance - in whatever shape and form due to whatever cause) and yet I still feel like playing, I have an option...

I never saw complaints about WoW's maintenance time (6 am eastern to 2 pm eastern for 8 hour maint).

I see complaints about this game's maint all the time. This game's maint happens during prime time on my realm (The Swiftsure). It's ridiculous. It should be 4 hours later. And don't bring up Europe, Europe should have a different maintenance schedule. That's absolutely obvious.
