There will be the local option click there click swtor/swtor/settings and your two files should be in there. I find this easier then following a thread from c files not sure if works for other versions of windows.

That being said, here is where my language falls apart as I don't completely understand all things graphical. I have pulled them to my desktop, they are replaced and I see some differences in the files after I log to char screen and change settings and log back out. Do I trash the two old files that were replaced? Also they went back to the same folder I thought someone mentioned the files going where they belonged as if they weren't supposed to be in that folder.

And regarding fps that is too high burning out a vid card. Mine spikes before this test to 110 fps on my ship and in some open areas and down to 8 or 9 on imp fleet/Warzones. The last few days since patch I get black flickering screens, so I started watching the temp on my card. Temp was getting to 58c-64c with fan periodically going to 60% usage. So I manually over rode fan to set it at 90% and brought temp down to 50c to 54c. No change due to lower temp, is this a problem in game or with card? And will the high spikes to 110 in FPS put my card at risk? Just bought the card is Raedon 6700.

Great post btw as I can see it has helped a lot of people with their fps hopefully mine will be more stable and higher in warzones/impfleet, and other places where I drop to 15.

And to all of you unhappy people that constantly rant without reason.
Unsub and find a game you like instead of trolling the boards. I see a lot of complainers even on this helpful post. I had my issues brought my points to the forums, think Bioware can do a better job of addressing the issues, but the dev blog is addressing a lot of said issues on a regular basis within the first month. So give em time to get things fixed Rome wasn't built in a day or so they say!
Yes, you can dump the files from your desktop. The launcher/game automatically replaces the files with updated versions and places them in the proper folder.
As for the card, Im not a ATI guy so much anymore, but isnt that a basic 6700? I dont think that the spikes will destroy the card, but keepoing it cool will help. The temps you reported are apparently normal operating temps for card that run graphicly intense games such as this one. If you are really that worried about temps, and fps spikes you can always turn on v-sync in the games graphics settings to limit your card to 60fps. That will help in the longivity of the card and keep it operating cooler.

My rig:

i5-2500k @~4.5GHz
Radeon 6950 2GB w/ unlocked shaders and slight over clock
8GB RAM

I was having trouble with extremely low frame rates after the patch, and even before the game had never run as well as it seemed to me it should have given my rig.

I did this fix and my FPS are not only fixed from pre-1.1, but they are running more how they should have in the first place. I get 60-100FPS with max settings (including shadows ON), and only go down to 40ish in the Republic Fleet. So, basically, it worked wonders. Which means Bioware seriously borked the config.ini file at some point. They should probably look into that.

I never altered any of the settings in the config.ini, so this is not only a fix for those who messed with it.

I'm curious for those that this doesnt work for, were you guys in the Beta, either regular/closed or open/weekend?
I noticed in the AppData folder on my laptop that I Beta tested on it still had a Beta Folder. I didnt open it up to look, but I think it will have some effect if there are .ini files in it.
