I strongly believe that this system would work if people used it. I notice there is sometimes a blurb about it in one of the loading screens. What more can BW do to encourage people to actually use it?

Would it be such a bad idea if you couldn't physically get into a group phase unless you were tagged? I think the game should force persuade you to tag yourself LFG if you have any intention of joining a group.

Cake is a lie; there is only pie.
I've been saying this for a long time.

I would see people in fleet spamming L2M Athiss and I would open up the who and see 3 people flagged LFG with LFG Athiss in their comment.

Yes the system is rough around the edges but even if it is the best thing since sliced bread, it wouldn't matter if they refuse to use it.

The problem AS I SEE IT is people do not want a tool they want an automated system that does everything for them.

May be, if you can post guide on HOW to tag yourself for LFG, or better yet HOW to search for LFG tagged people, more people will be using it. Currently, I have no idea how to sort social UI to filter search for LFG only, it is always "first 100 results out of 200+ shown" with all the wrong people. And manual notoriously bad at explaining it.

I think most people not even sure how to make that d*** thing to work, and since we can't get it to work for us, we aren't using it. It is not that we ignore it on purpose, it is just that... not apparent enough.
The thing is, a guide will help some, but not most, because the people that need to learn about it are in game right now, spamming General with LFG. I'd like to see it more obvious in the game itself. I don't even know if there's a "new player" tooltip for it.

I still think BW could do a lot more to educate players about the LFG tool.

Educating wouldn't help when they want the system to find the people and form the group for them while they play the game 1/2 sleep or not at all. The fact that they put you on ignore when you attempted to help them shows the kind of people they are.

which part of "Light populated server" you dont' understand?
which part of GMT time 11.23 monday 23 January you don't understand?
which part of "36 people currently at republic fleet" you don't understand?
which part of problem you try denial or pretend it is nonexistant?
The number of people on fleet is not an accurate representation of who is logged into the game. Whenever I'm having problems finding members for my party in fleet I hop on my ship and go to the planet with people around that level range. After that I got to let people know that the party is full for the next 10mins.

The current "Tagging yourself LFG" can work if people use it. You can be on Ilum and be flagged "DPS LFG BT HM" and I can be inside the flashpoint where our DPS left because his swimming pool was on fire. I don't even have to leave the flashpoint. Open the window Type LFG HM and see you flagged and invite you.

IT IS THAT SIMPLE!

you can't/hard understand me? you don't understand why i'm here? my native language is russian, game was released in russia… and still i don't see any russian-speaking forum

geez. I wasn't the one ditching what you said because English is not your native tongue. I was simply trying to show that it's irrelevant (it's not my first language either)

in 9 out of 10 cases there are only 20 people on your server? I highly doubt that.

I .do. understand what you were trying to say, and yet I think it's irrelevant. it's not like putting yourself up in the LFG window means you can't still search by using the chat. and the tool is useless because nobody uses it. that's the only reason. yesterday there were 170 people on the fleet and a grant total of 2 (!) on my whole server were flagged looking for group.

I couldn't agree with the OP more. I had a quick check on my server last night using the 'who' function and while allbut three of the Advanced Classes maxed out over the 100 search limit there were only 15 tagged LFG. So in excess of 800 players online and only about 2% using the feature

There are probably a few reasons for this low uptake, not least being the exposure to general chat spam LFM most new players encounter.

It is not the default page when the social window is opened. Press the icon at the top of the screen and you get the social window opened on the friends tab. Even one extra key press can deter many folk from going further.

I personally can't believe how easy it is to set up.

1) Press 'o'.
2) Select 'Who' tab at bottom (second tab from left).
3) Click radio button to activate LFG
4) Click 'LFG comment' button and enter LFG comment.

and to search for LFG is even easier...

1) Press 'o'
2) Select 'Who' tab at bottom (second tab from left).
3) Type 'LFG' in search window. Press enter.

It is a basic and easy to use system that at least allows you to tag yourself and then get on with the game rather than sitting ion the Fleet spamming the general chat.

or you could type /who or you could click on the name of your planet/fleet above the chat. it really .is. quite easy to find the who list.

I do think there is no in-game tut to find it, though. at least I can't remember seeing one. there is a tool-tip in one of the loading screens that pops up sometimes, but lots of people don't read those at all (I wonder how many people actually know how to do a barrel roll in space combat... )

seems like I see one or two on my server using this. Honestly though, it seems that general chat is the biggest LFG tool.

haha yeah. on my server sometimes people even get told not to talk about 'off-topic' stuff in that channel.. lol. and nobody ever uses the player-created lfg-channel .at all.

it's horrible
