Why does the Empire outnumber the Republic?

BW is totally clueless, before SWTOR played Aion - and as soon as elyos characters hit 51% of server population it was impossible to create any new elyos acc/char on server. Simple like that.
operatives are totally broken. Never saw any scoundrels doing 6k twice in a row. Maybe rep classes are just that handicapped. and mercs - any reason to give them heavy armor and damage+heal capabilities compared to that of top sage hybrids (light users)

P.S. Amazed that ppl still remember L1. L2 was uber grind as well, still shaking remembering 1 st floor healing in tower of infinitum on HB.

Why is this a big deal?

Relics. The DS ones are better and they are easier to get, sooner. Fits right into the min/max mentality.
I think that depends on the class and where you are on the morality chain. After getting to Light III on the trooper I found dark side options appearing much less often. Early in Jedi Knight story found them to be about equal, but seen several light side without dark choices on Coruscant. Only had 50 dark side whole time on trooper, already 150 on knight though still light side. Trooper is lvl 50, Knight is lvl 19, Consular is lvl 1, other 5 classes forthcoming.

I'm sure you're right - but by then the damage is already done.

Empire get's decent Tier 3 Relics sooner, which gives an obvious advantage in WZ's. Which means they get the Comms faster, which means they get the Gear faster, which means they own face on the Republic when they're just starting to get the decent Relic.

It goes into the Sith Dogma perfectly, story-wise, even. They take the short route to Power instead of the long road to Wisdom. That right there is the sole reason why I think the obvious favoritism to the Class Balance goes to Empire. I wouldn't put it past them.

I'm sure I'm over-simplifying all of that... but there is some truth in there that cannot be denied.

Disclaimer, this is by no means a negative post, I just want to know why on my republic character I almost never end up with enough players, but on my Empire character I usually end up Huttballing against other Empire players.
Swtor factions in a nutshell:

Republic - We must save them, it is our duty, c'mon guys for the starving hunger childrens!

Empire - I don't feel like helping you now that I think about it, Zzzzzap

It was a huge error to make the Republic a bunch of mary sues basically
Kolbe - Sith Juggernaut - Jung Ma RP-PVP
Kolben - Vanguard - Jung Ma RP-PVP

If that's the case (which it may well be since I have no intention of rolling a dark side character to find out) and you get better stuff earlier it wouldn't surprise me at all considering the insta-gratification society we live in today. Short term profits over long-term sustainability is what causes so many problems. Sorry, poli sci major in me coming out.

I played though all of the Republic quest lines and the where BORING!. Every thing was a "we got our asses kicked" save us SMUGGLER MAN!. There was not a single moment where republic was competent AND THE ENDING! of the main story line was bad.

Hey power rangers were good in the first 3 seasons in the early 90s when I was 11. :P

To the post above it, for some reason even in a computer game for some reason I get more gratification out of saving people than killing them. I still get to kill plenty of dark siders and threats to the Republic too. Make no mistake I clear Imps mercilessly if they don't want it. I laughed at the fact I got to save a Sith Lord TWICE in one quest chain as a trooper, his reactions were priceless. Got 250 light side points for it too.

Ending of the trooper storyline for light side was infuriating, but left it wide open for an awesome expansion pack. Way to make me want to buy the expansion already BioWare...

I suspect it has more to do with the "Going Horde" effect from WoW. A lot of people went allaince on WoW for a number of reasons... the end result was a larger pool of people, which means that you are more likely to have baddies with you in PvP. In WoW lots of people later on in the game would switch to horde just to get away from the baddies on allaince.

I think that when SW:TOR came out a lot of those people just decided to start Empire (Horde) in hopes of being with the 'l33t' people that will carry them.

The fact is that on my server we normally win more then lose in BGs as Republic. With the exception of the pre-made lvl 60 valor geared groups we normally win most in PUGs.... Right now I think a lot of servers are suffering from the l33t players who PLed to 50 and geared are still the majority of 50s in the WZ for empire... give it 3 or 4 more weeks when the joiners start getting 50 and watch the Empire turn into the Allaince in WoW.
