Why does the Empire outnumber the Republic?

I dont understand why there is such a huge imbalance with the Republic? Is it cooler to play Empire? Is it because they are mostly winning and thus everybody flocks to the Empire side?

Disclaimer, this is by no means a negative post, I just want to know why on my republic character I almost never end up with enough players, but on my Empire character I usually end up Huttballing against other Empire players.

Bad guys are just cooler to most people. Especailly pvp'rs. They need to create incentives to reroll republic, give us exp bonuses for rerolling and better rewards.

Well let's see;

Everyone wants to be bad mofo. Even Biowares own class movies literally say "unlimited power".

While republic side is mostly magic ponies with "friendship is magical " -attitude. Republic side lore wise too is nothing but restrictions and goody good shoes. Who want's to play stoic jedi defender of helpless whelps, when you can play bad-rear-end sith sorceror/warrior who have unlimited power.

I'm playing scoundrel and so far warzones are horrendous cancer since imperial outnumber us like 3:1, when there were 50's brackets it was basicly 80% lvl 50's in sith team and 1-2 50's in republic side. Now when 50's brackets came the imps have full champ gear and starting to get battlemaster gear, while republic "defenders of puppies" are in greens running in circles with hands in the air.

Not to mention all the "mirror" class balance threads in forums it's really hard seeing myself playing anymore warzones without putting my fist though the monitor.

To OP. Reason is simple

I was in beta testings and also looked various leak sites at that time just for info. Also tested pvp in beta. It was clear back then that empire will dominate. Alot people agreed that empire is better faction overall and had alot better class mix/skill than republic (people still argue that all is mirrored yet one faction outnumbers other in most servers by far). Im not going to mention skill mechanic that favor mostly one faction also.

Same classes that domiante pvp currently were also in beta and currently its roughly same. So far we only have seen operative changes, rest are pretty much like in beta or early testings.

Now even if they finally fix mirror classes, i dont know if its possible to balance the numbers anymore. Only option would be radically step into pvp system and like many games give huge buffs to lesser number faction while in pvp area.
But that is hard to do now with the current state of pvp gear that one faction has already farmed up.
The Division Dev:
I will say this. Video games have a business side as well as the creative side. This is necessary to function and only time will tell what the future of the game is.

They offered cookies to the new players.

In seriousness they have a few mechanical advantages, (IMO) better looking armor for most classes, (IMO) better voice actors/story lines, and at this point they attract new guys due to them being the "stronger" and more populated side.

Better story arcs.

Better looking gear

More flavorful class concepts.

Superior "mirror class" animations

Basically, BioWare bit into every possibly conceivable "Evil" trope, and then gave players the opportunity to play "the bad guys".

Of COURSE there's a massive faction imbalance.

Empire doesn't dominate. More people doesn't mean more wins. Just means more people. So far the Empire loses a ton on my server when it comes to straight up PvP, gank fests however, they need to have their 5 to 1 odds to have a chance, the average Imperial runs about as smartly as the average WoW Alliance player.

I'm just tired of all the people I've met playing the good side. They always suck at pvp since they prefer pve more. A lot of players in the good side also buy gold from farmers and etc which screws up the economy really bad. I make more money selling low level gathering mats than high level ones.

jedi have brown bland gear, coruscant is brown and bland, the pube fleet is brown and bland. the jedi npcs are boorish two-dimensional goody-two-shoes (early levels at least), the first 15 (as far as i got) levels of trooper story is very boring.

empire has more interesting characters, more interesting armor, more interesting environments, and better stories.

imho.
