the funny thing is, blizzard started heavily moderating their forums back 1-1.5 years ago. and if you go back to their forums now, you wont see much of these types blabbering about in there.

as you can guess, most of them have went to other games. and took all the irritation they create with them. like here.

PVP "hardcores" ruin mmorpgs. Raiders have their fair share of douche-bags, but the PVP variety are the ones who general damage the game beyond repair.

It's amazing how selfish and self centered many of them are. From calling PVE players carebears, to demanding the only genre of online gaming that caters to PVE content, to have PVP infused to every aspect. As if there aren't enough PVP options out there.

They're also the first to post nonstop threads about how broken everything and how doomed the game is, then ragequit, when their demands aren't met.
as a pvper, i will have to agree with you. not only i have experienced these myself, but, at a certain point in time, i also have done these things.

I don't exactly know what you're getting at with this post...

And OP, I agree. The nerfs down to scoundrals / operatives need to happen, but at the same time they can't destroy the class's dps capabilites.

Too bad TOR hasn't seen the mistakes of WOW. One would think looking at a competitior would be a good idea.

That's true. I had heard Blizzard had started to crack down a while back. It certainly is better for it. These boards remind of the WoW boards back during BC and WotLK.

I actually enjoy the PVP in this game a bit, my friends love PVP too. It's a shame some players ruin it for the rest of us.

They [PVP hardcores] ruined WoW, and now they move from game to game, ruining whatever they can. Not one ever manages to think, that maybe their constant demands are what ruined the games in the first place.

Having PVP is one thing, destroying PVE every month to keep the vocal minority happy, is another.
Well said.

My only problem is this: boss mobs are were tuned based on how much damage players can do. When they lower that damage they dont go back and retune all the mobs.

indeed. i have checked out wow forums a week or so ago out of curiosity. and was totally appalled not to find any of the 'l337' pvp/pveer talk there. it was quite bizarre, seeing people talk normally, even politely to each other.

back in 'my day' when someone posted ANYthing, regardless of what it is, at the minimum 30% of the replies would be l337 types of any subgroup barking on the original poster and all the others like him/her.

now its quite bizarre i tell you. but i can assure you that it is keeping a lot of the subscriber base from their forums.

not that it is something bad though. there is no positive contribution to community from people who are demanding their self-interest be supplied at the cost of anyone else. not to mention the sheer specificity and irrationale of a lot of those requests, like the ones in these boards.

Amen, OP.

I myself am a PVE player. Along with my wife and a couple of friends, we enjoy the "slower" lane of MMOs, I suppose.

However, we do drop into PVP on occasion despite usually ending up in the middle or lower at the end of a match. We have our fun with it but it's definitely not the focus. Overall, the PVP crowd may be a minority but it's definitely very vocal, which in turn can end up doing more harm as it naturally grabs the ear of a dev - squeaky wheel and all.

I agree so much with your sentiment though. Class and ability changes/nerfs/tweaks that are based upon or stem from a PVP mindset or from the PVP base yelling about something could wreck havoc on those of us who rarely dip into the PVP arena and spend most of our time fighting NPC mobs and running through dungeons/flashpoints/heroics etc.

Hopefully Bioware, in its rush to make people happy and keep people playing, understands that PVPers are the minority, and that tweaking and changing and even transforming classes and the way they play to balance/maintain PVP combat could very well ruin the larger PVE player base which could ultimately leave servers barren.

Cheers!

an additional note :

i know it from myself - extensive pvping makes one increasingly aggressive. that is something inevitable. leave aside observing it on myself, i have even seen people who have been very mild, very stable and kind people for the entirety of their 45 year long life turn irritable after taking up pvp. so if that person is not immune from that, i dont think anyone is.

it may not show directly, it may not be evidently apparent, but it is inevitable that it has an effect.

imagine what kind of person i was while i was pvping in wow battlegrounds 6 hours nonstop for over 1.5 years, every day.

............

the point is, that causes one to be very aggressive, vocal and demanding when participating in the community. like in the pvp forums here.

what amuses me is leet speak was invented by the older internet generation to obfuscate from the suits and kids what was going on, now the kids have taken it up the real leet speakers have abandonded it

The wow generation has so much to learn.....they were not first
