i really lol when i read this.

i started a slinger alt(main vanguard) and i have been really enjoying it. At lvl 30 spec'd df im really surprised at how much dmg i can get out and was wondering why the in the world nobody is rolling slinger but when u look at the classes as a whole its easier to understand why they dont. U can roll merc/commando and spam one more or u can have everything in sage/sorc. O well, i have fun kicking people in the junk so ima keep playing.
Swtor needs more pvp

Who says that?

So that's the #1 reason.
No, it's because they just aren't as good as other things. People would anything if they thought it gave them more safety and better winning chances in the game.

I think you greatly overestimate the number of min-maxers who play this game. The game is full of dudes with lightsabers because that's what tons of people want to be when they think of Star Wars.

I agree. A friend in my guild picked trooper because it had a big gun. Another picked Sentinel because he wanted to be obi-wan. Another picked Shadow because double-bladed lightsabers are cool.
People mostly play what is fun, and work around that.

To be effective sniper have not just DPS people from 30m away but take down required targets quickly in needed situations, requiring him often to be on frontlines.

He is very good at that, but to be effective at that he needs a support - as minimum some melee to run with, at best a guard and a healer. Thus limiting its use in pugs.

Topping charts with DPS/kills as sniper is as useless as toppic chart with Sorc Dots. You did a lot of damage, you killed lot of people from a far - you but you werent really "playing a game".

Operative is more popular from that point, since it allows player to choose any target and take it down - providing a feeling that you are on frontlines and control the flow of the game. Even more so for other classes that can just run in an pwn people - the feeling is better.

Sniper is very powerful, but its not a class for solo player. Its great team tool, but no more. If choosing between sniper that plays solo in team and any other class, i would pick any other class. However if sniper is supported by the team... thats other question.
So in conclusion youre saying the sniper's job is that of a mosquito, while every other class can drop a nuke and roflmaofacestomp others with healing/heavy armor.

Personally, I went Operative because Snipers are required to stand still too much. I have an Arsenal Merc and those are turret-y enough without adding a Sniper to the mix.

Sadly looking cool for snipers/GS isnt as kool as playing them against other players.

Fix the ability delay, unreliable cover screen, and change from weapon damage to tech damage.

My sniper is an alt and at level 41. Usually at or near the top in warzones in damage, kills, and medals. And usually a great kill to death ratio; I barely ever die. Usually only die when I have cover issues and ability delays, or get swarmed by enemies. The ability delay is what hurts us the most in my opinion. 2 people on me, cover pulse ............ nothing, cover pulse ......... nothing, cover pulse .......... nothing, dead. Hit cover ..... unknown terrain effect, hit cover ...... unknown terrain effect. Or you roll out of range of your target, sigh.

As for damage, with bolster I used to get 5k ambushes before the nerf to biochem and overcharge adrenals(still get 4200-4500 now). I know that is nothing compared to the likes of ops/scoundrels, but I can take most players down fairly quick. 4k ambush - 3k followthrough - 2k instant snipe - 3k-4k series of shots total - 2k-3k takedown. Most players are dead after that. But I'm also a high ground hero. I stick to the rafters and walkways, unless my kill lands me the ball in huttball. I also sit in cover on top of the capture node machines in Civil War. Harder to be seen because of faction symbol glowing above it. But be careful not to get knocked up out of that cover by a knockback. I got launched up onto the big gun turret while defending one of the outside nodes. I was stuck in the air up by the gun. I could attack, but not get attacked because of a line of sight issue for those down below. I also could not move. I tried /stuck, it killed me though. Just a warning about sitting on top of the capture nodes.

Sniper energy system is fine for MM, really every time I run out of energy and probe - it just means that I was just sitting there for half a minute and nuking non-stop, basically I did insane damage already.

Lethality could use energy buff, though.

Also, we do excellent burst and we are the most annoying ranged nuker against healers with interrupt and leg shot giving us more time to tear their face off.

Ever tried Flashbang + Cover + Adrenal + Relic + Explosive Probe>Ambush>Snipe>Followthrough>Leg Shot>SoS>Takedown? This thing kills a Sorc healer or any non-tank in a matter of seconds with around 70% success chance, target can't really LoS eiher. If you pop entrench it is almost failsafe, except for flashbang breaking which is not really needed, since in the heat of a fight you can do it just as is and it usually works just fine. It is an Operative class type of burst really, it takes 4-5 seconds to setup, but it is ranged and does not require stealth.

The only case which is a huge ********* for me is good tanks, just can't touch them.

Because they are a pure class without something iconic like dual wielding lightsabers.
