Now, that said, the first item you get will more or less always be an upgrade. That said, my roommate has a pair of pants for every day of the week, and if you go back and read the thread, you'll see that just about everyone who chimes in has half a dozen earpieces or two extra pairs of gloves or what-have-you.

This is NOT an isolated problem. It's widespread and it's the result of bad design. And yes, you always get addons to stats you don't need for your first -several- new recipe unlocks from RE... that said, this is very likely because there are many stats, only one of which any person actually needs. It's not like you can put use to something with Cunning if you're an Aim kinda guy, or Willpower if you're a Strength kinda guy.

It's pretty much terrible! It's not that they're designed specifically to be hostile to the player, perhaps, but there are absolutely too many options which are nonviable for such a random system to reward anyone.

Unless they get lucky!

But I've beaten that dead horse enough for this hour, I think.
Yeah I agree that it's a stupid system (as I just posted a few posts ago). I'm just saying that it's not a stacked deck. The problem is that it's random, not that there are systems in place to prevent you from rolling well.

edit: in fact, the only reason I'm here trolling the pvp boards atm is because I'm tabbed out while trying to get a horrible random drop from Field Commander Tripton for my stupid pvp alt. Come on Saber Marshal's bracers! Random sucks. -.-

A 10% chance to pull an item, and soon another 10% chance after that for it to be an item you can use?

I guess it's not specifically stacked, but it certainly is an absolutely abysmal chance. They're not rolling your dice over to a 9 when you roll a 10, but they're certainly asking you to roll two 10s in a row, which is fairly ridiculous as far as percentages are concerned.

Lul. Nice. I love MMORPGs in theory, but the way people decide to execute them drive me out of my ****in' skull most of the time.

Well yeah. Double-RNG is always going to be worse than single-RNG. The system is awful. I'm just saying that it's not looking at what you have, what class you are, and what could be useful to you and specifically giving you the opposite. ;p

Oh, well, certainly not.

They would have to put some gosh darn designwork into it for it to do such a thing!

...do I sound bitter? >_>

Maybe a little. I sense you've gotten many bags with nothing but comms and/or duplicate gear.

Not even one! I'm 45.

I just have an appreciation for really finely-tuned designwork. I've been playing games since you had to do your own math. My P&P RPG calculator had -red lights-, not grey LCDs. Took a nine-volt battery.

*EDIT* I don't understand the problem... they want it to take time to grind it. WHo cares if you dont get the l33t champ gear right away? You still get centurion tokens and thus can still purchase centurion gear, which is just slightly weaker... and when you hit V60, you get BM bags which *gasp* gurantee champ tokens, so either way you'll get your champ gear eventually

The problem is that Valor takes so long to grind out and while your running around in your centurion gear 3 weeks from now some fresh lvl 50 will do his two weekly's and two daily's the day he hits 50 and suddenly have more/better gear than you. How is that at all fair? You've put in the hours and work to gear up and somebody wins the RNG lottery and is now more competitive than you are (at least gearwise and yes gear does make a Huge difference in WZ, who do you want healing you? The guy with 900 will +320 heals 19% crit chance +60% crit power? Or the guy with 1500 will +550 heals 38% crit chance with +100% crit power?)

And just in case your curious, when I hit 50 I purchased all purple off the AH, there wasn't a single piece of centurion gear that was superior to what I was wearing, actually I had to take a compromise and lose 18 endurance 9 crit rating 8 or 9 surge rating to gain 3 will and the set bonus cool down for heals.

The average response time of a 911 call is over 4 minutes.
The average response time of a .45 round is over 900 fps.

Yeah. What other kind of gamer would be talking about rolling a die and trying to get a 10 instead of a 6? :-p
