How was it an exploit? How could you having a number advantage in an open pvp situation ever be an exploit? The area was open pvp, if players were in the area, they were fair game. If there wasn't a system in place to stop these players from taking over the enemy base, then why is that the players fault? (how do you not think "we should put up turrets in the base so that one faction can't come into the base so at least the flightpath is safe"?)

Sounds more like idiot developers not thinking about what the hell they are doing.

You can say "you aren't half as good at game design" and you'd be right, but game design isn't my job. I am not a professional in the industry. They are. I purchased the product, they screwed around and didn't hold up their end of the bargain, being that it's a game and we expect it to be entertaining. So far on here all I am seeing is numerous frustrated players.

I play republic, I was one of the people who got destroyed in Ilum, but I don't blame the empire, I blame the developers for letting it happen.

What worries me about these problems is that numerous PLAYERS have creative and well thought out solutions to them, but you as DEVELOPERS OF THE VIDEO GAME haven't thought this stuff through? How can we, who are just playing the game, have better solutions than the professionals that make the games?
That's nice, but Coop is going to hit THREE home runs.

Don't forget that PTR was clamoring over the subject well before the patch was implemented.

I damn near took one of you with me, so maybe you are, but I'm not going back to Ilum now, after dying a minimum of 15 times trying to collect armaments. You've made it clear, my measly 100 valor is more important than a little simple common courtesy.

Seriously, if you outnumber somebody by such overwhelming odds, you aren't good. I really hope you know the difference.
Don't engage in PvP then.

I landed on Illum and within 5 minutes of leaving the camp I had 4 Republic on me butchering me. I hadn't even crossed the area yet into the PvP only area.

Solution: Change the current mechanics so both sides can enjoy the game.

Geez. This thread extend the meaning of denial.
Your final line is true, but denial of the simple fact of what pvp is. Imbalance is a fact in every faction based game. Even if you put a cap on illium at least 1 instance would be unbalanced.

The funniest part is, this is a single part of the game you aren't required to go to. It isn't like they are doing this on the space port of Tatooine or Alderaan, preventing players from questing. It's one specific area of a planet you don't even have to go to to quest, or do your story.

Was spawn camping pvp? No

Was it greifing? Yep !

Isnt it pretty obvious? Yep !

You deserve whatever Bioware slaps you guys with.

Anyone who was there KNOWS that it was the wrong thing to be doing.

If you don't know why it was wrong, then you really have much bigger issues to learn about in life.
Read a children's book and learn a morality lesson or two and stop being a looter.

Tee thread it isn't a question of "Is it right or wrong" what they did.

So many people on this thread fail to get it.

It's that BioWare has actively said they will do something to the players who engaged in PvP, which isn't against the rules on PvP severs.

Obviously, what occurred on Illium was not what the design team expected. The problem is that it appears the company is looking to punish players for not participating in the game “the way they desire” when those players are paying money to “play as they desire.” To be honest, the problem would not have occurred with better thought out mechanics for Illium from the design staff that is outraged.

It’s a good example of meta-gaming cross faction and an insight into what players of games really want. The cross faction warfare that was expected for this game is suddenly not a given fact in anyone’s mind. I am not sure this can be changed without compromises that would ruin the fun of playing.

Should those players be punished for what occurred on Illium? I lean toward no, simply change the mechanics and redesign Illium while warning customers that this will not be tolerated in the future. They will need to invent better reasons to fight each other rather than cooperate in game.

For the record, I have NOT been part of any exploitation of Illium.
