Common reasons people say LFD is not needed include:

1 - Make friends and go to them when you want to group (because everyone on your friends list is ALWAYS online whenever you need them)

2 - Be in an active guild (because everyone is in a guild with 300 members all at your call whenever you want to run a FP)

3 - Playing with people in your server is somehow "better" (as if idiots aren't abound on your server as well)

Guess what? Nothing, NOTHING, stops you from grouping with friends, guild-mates or being "server exclusive" with LFD. Basically you just don't want other people to find groups faster is what it boils down to because either a) you have a very narrow view of what an MMO should be and everyone MUST adhere, b) you had a bad LFD experience in WoW and somehow have amnesia regarding how those bad groups happened before LFD just as often or c) you just want to a jerk to the guy that logs in at 8:00 after a long day at work, has a small guild that isn't always online and just wants to do a fast flashpoint in the half hour he has to play.

Keep listening to the vocal minority and you'll end up with another dying MMO.

/sigh

Really love this game but it is easily the hardest time I've had to group in an MMO ... EVER (as a Tank to boot.) LFG within the server will do nothing to solve the problem ... mark my words; this road has been taken before and the result will be the same.
This post basically sums it up. I hate to say it but Wow realized that the leveling experience would be horrible for alts or late new players are concerned. So they made a decision to allow for cross server grouping at all levels to support the replayability of the game and new players coming in expansions later. Now people can still enjoy that aspect even though the zone he/she is in is somewhat empty since a lot of the population is at max level.

i want cross-server. if i want to play at 3 in the morning, then with that, i'm able to. cross-server doesn't kill community. people act like idiots no matter what the situation is. i've seen plenty of bs in general chat on all the planets i leveled in.

cross-server just makes it faster to find a group. people want to play the game, at least i do. if we want to be social, we talk to our guild, get on vent, or god forbid, go outside and actually interact with people in person.

imo, the best way to implement it is to put in both options. if people only want to queue with those from their own server, then they just select that option. however, if they would like faster queue times, they select the cross-server option, and there you go.

for all the hype about wanting the game to be social and whatnot, if you wanted it to be different from other mmo's in that aspect, then why is the gameplay, the leveling / missions, and the endgame pvp / pve grind pretty much exactly the same as the competition.

the only big difference are voice-overs, which i've honestly already gotten tired of. i don't need to hear farmer bob talk for two minutes about how rakghouls killed his womprat. especially for flashpoints, once you've done then twice or more, it's just a time waster having to listen to the dialogue.

i want to get things done as fast as i can, so i can do other things in-game, or go watch tv, or go do some irl.

tldr: don't make other suffer longer queue times / longer times having to put a group together just because of some notion that servers have community. just go look at general chat long enough and you will see this aw

Just read your sig, saying your'e level 30... I guarantee you'll feel differently once you're level 50 and wanting to run fast hard modes for end game gear.
I'm hot and you're not. I'm on Tattooine, you're on Hoth.

Same **** at low level. Did NOT get a single group to hammerstation. Got party to 3 man before people started leaving. This over a 12 hour span I have been playing the game. And now I have outlevled it.
And yes I play on one of the most populated servers in the game.

WoW implemented it and now nobody quests to level alts. You stand in SW or Org and queue up for BG's or Dungeons.

Warcraft = Queuecraft

SWTOR is built around questing, too much complaining on the forums about end game for it to be otherwise.

So you want bioware to FORCE players to quest. Why even have flashpoints in the first place? Why not just make a singleplayer game with only quests?

Your logic fails so hard.

LFG would fix endgame, and it would allow people to find groups for heroics and flashpoints as they level up, doing some group content as they quest.

And yeah, about the "some people in WoW only do dungeons and don't quest" argument... You know, some people in TOR only play warzones to level up and skip questing, or do alot of starship battles and skip alot of quests. It's good to have those kinds of choices, it's up to the player what experience they want to focus on more. Personally, I'm into the story, and I want to quest, but I also want to do flashpoints and see those stories, and do group activities... easily. And I hate that I'm level 50 and only halfway to social level 2...

I don't care what BioLucas does. By the huge investment that they made in voice acting and the seemingly lack of care or polish on the combat system...it's pretty obvious to me where their focus has been. If I could force BioLucas to do something, it would be to make this a sandbox style mmo. But I read reviews and knew what this game was before I bought it and I'm wise enough not to waste my time trying to turn this into something that it is not. The game is what they made it, enjoy it or vote with your $ubscription and go elsewhere.
