I guess so did the other 5 people who were trying to get the same datacron for the exact same amount of time as I was - not one of them made it while I was there.

Your input is not needed, failtroll. Move along.

Actually, that might be the case, though I wouldn't say suck. You need to improve, though. Countless people have gotten all of their datacrons (with the help of guides on the interwebs), including the one(s) you are complaining about.

Process of elimination. The core of the problem is with you.
Simply because one criticizes the game doesn't mean that one doesn't like the game. In most cases, criticism comes from those who like the game but want to improve the game. Be less hostile to those who advocate for improvements.
Enough with the loot treadmills. Can we get something a little different?

.
I guess you did.
We managed to get all the datacrons. While having 20fps and delays. So did hundreds of others. So it's doable, the jumping just takes some getting used to.

not a real word, but I get your meaning.

Perhaps it would be beneficial to search for a video of someone walking you step by step through the maze of getting to the datacron? Surely you are not the first to experience difficulty getting to it and I'll bet there is some nice person on youtube who posted their secret to getting to it.

Don't give up xD. I know what it's like having OCD about things

How exactly is it Bioware's fault that they inserted a challenging minigame into TOR and your obsessive completionist complex makes you more frustrated than normal by your inability to acquire the datacrons. They're placed where they are for the express reason of being hard to get to. Have you tried the balloon ride on Tatooine to get to the datacron on the downed sand crawler? That's a legitimately frustrating task. Either way, your frustration is not Bioware's concern. Live with it or move on.

And don't tell me that you are losing out on stats by any serious amount. The total stat gain per single stat over all datacrons (I'm really only considering your primary stats, e.g. you don't need that +2 aim on your consular or whatever) is no more that 20 or 30. The 1 to 1.5 percent more of a stat that someone has (and that's after collecting all datacrons for a single primary stat) is not going to break the game for you by any measure.

But I just spent the last 2 hours getting myself a headache doing something that has damn near made me not want to play this game at all.

Trying to get a datacron.
Bioware's fault for your persistance? I respect your tenacity, but don't try to blame BioWare for having it take '2 hours' - the most I've spent on a DataCron is 10 minutes.

Seriously, Bioware. This is an MMO. I did not buy this game to be forced (yes, forced, unless I want to miss out on stats others get and matrix shards needed for combines) to play a platformer that has terrible controls.
Then... Don't do it. No, you are NOT forced to pick up the minor and often trivial differences, and most of the time (I'd say maybe at least 50% of the time) the blasted things are borderline useless (We've been getting AIM and Cunning on our characters. I'd be 'SO VERY CRIPPLE D:' without it!)

And to be honest... the only person who -possibly- knows of that difference in stat is YOU. Unless you just want to Screencap your level 50 character's stats to post on the forums as a brag, no one else is going to ever see if you 'missed a +3 to Presence datacron!'

I am a Sith, yet despite all the agility, 15 foot jumping skills, etc of Sith and Jedi in both the movies and books I can manage what? A 3 foot vertical jump, 6 foot horizontal jump? ANd I am expected to leap from box to box, then onto thin girders and beams, repeatedly, in order to reach a goal that, should I fail to reach it, will leave me arguably weaker than others who manage it?

There is nothing fun about this, nothing involving skill, and nothing that reflects any aspect of RPG gaming in this.

I really didn't get into this game to spend 2 hours watching my character barely jump, miss jumps despite careful timing, fail to jump at all and walk off of ledges despite me pushing the damn button, walk off of ledges and beams after I successfully made the jump - even though my fingers weren't on the controls at all, and just generally be completely subpar to everything Sith and Jedi are shown to be easily capable of in both the movies and Expanded Universe.

Never got the datacron I was going for yet. 2 hours with nothing to show for it but a headache and a complete lack of interest in playing the game anymore tonight.
Particularly to your bolded, here's what you sounds like you're trying to say: Because you couldn't get it, it requires no skill to get. Even though YOU have the biased of having a 15 foot 'jump-to' skill making YOUR datacrons arguably easier to get to with a friend, it still doesn't require skill.

Clearly, it required some degree of skill or else you would be able to just walk right up to it and grab it. Not only that, you failed at doing something that others have -clearly gotten- in a span of 2 hours?

This doesn't sound like a problem with the game, it sounds like a problem with you. If you're willing to grind away 2 hours repeating the same mistake, without seeking help or learning, that is your fault.

I don't know who thought up this idea, but it is a bad one. Datacrons, cool. Some extra stats and some awesome lore to read for getting them? Great idea. Hiding them in out of the way spots? Fine by me. Putting them in out of the way spots ONLY reachable by having to play a platformer on par with Tomb Raider but without the controls and responsiveness from my character needed to reach them without a huge amount of frustration, and in some cases, death from falling? Not fun, not interesting, not a part of an RPG, and not something I signed up for.

And if I don't do it, my character is arguably a cripple compared to others who get lucky and do, and I miss out on lore.
It's really not luck. It's quite simple and easy to get to most datacrons - and with the raw number of guides out right now, anyone who has trouble getting to one has an alternative - get a friend, and start a Duel with them. With any luck, one of you will have a pull in / force jump to that the other person can let you piggy-back off of.

My friend and I do this all the time. I am a Padawan Sage, and she is a Jedi Knight. Sure, sometimes we get frustrated - but some of us LIKE the challenge it can provide. Even if it's artificial 'You didn't jump because your character ran over a bump' - it just means we had to learn more for next time.

This is the first thing to really make me consider cancelling my sub. The FPS issues were bad, but they are clearing up over time and I believe Bioware is doing a great job fixing them. But this datacron business - I'm worried they won't address it, and that as a consequence, I will miss out. I am a completionist, and just not doing it is not an option, but neither is giving myself nightly headaches and frustration trying to, in effect, play an entirely different kind of game than the one I signed up for.

Your move, Bioware.
I hope BioWare's 'move' is to just laugh at you and write 'Learn2Play', but I doubt they'd be so forthcoming.

Between the mushy controls and the tendency of the character to drift, it can be pretty frustrating. Especially with jumps that involve landing on top of pipes, as the side collision is...not what you would expect eyeballing it.
