Additionally, not getting them means missing out on lore.

Not getting them is not an option for someone who plays like I do. And Bioware knows that there are quite a lot of people with my exact attitude when it comes to it.

Simply saying "then don't do it" is not a solution, sorry.
Lol, then bite the bullet and keep on trying. *** are you whining for then?
It's just a content made to require a bit of different skills from players. It's not needed to progress in the game and is not needed to be better than the others, cause the points are nothing spectacular that will make you UP if you miss them or OP if you collect them all.
So?
Either keep trying and improve, if you are so obsessed about getting them, or skip the ones that frustrate you. What exactly do you want?
Bioware changing this mini game cause you can't skip a datacron but then you can't keep trying to get it?

If I am unable to do something that others of my class can do, I will not be having fun with the game. I am a completionist. I don't just skip over content, ever, in any game. Never have, never will.

My problem, again, is not with the idea itself. It is with the poor controls that make it so frustrating, as well as the lack of abilities demonstrated by characters of my type in every movie and book. Why can a Sith, with his mighty Force powers, only jump 3 feet into the air, again?

Yeah, there's a lot of responsiveness issues with the game, both in combat and movement. I get it. If/when they fix it, what I said would apply. I understand your frustration, but I don't believe the currently buggy state of the game warrants a change for the long run when this will hopefully be ironed out soon(ish).

Reported for trolling. If you don't have anything to say related to the subject, don't say anything at all.
Simply because one criticizes the game doesn't mean that one doesn't like the game. In most cases, criticism comes from those who like the game but want to improve the game. Be less hostile to those who advocate for improvements.
Enough with the loot treadmills. Can we get something a little different?

Yeah! Bioware should just mail the datacrons to your inbox! That'd be WAY more fun.

Skill? Are you serious? It's not skill, it is an RNG based minigame, the RNG is in overcoming the poor controls and design of jumping, as well as the poor design of paths to the datacrons considering the responsiveness of those controls and the abilities of the character. It isn't about skill, not one tiny bit

Sorry, but there's no RNG in jumping mechanics, they are set in stone. Adapt to them.

It's your ride. If this gets to you this much..then play flustrated. Your choice. But I can'nt see playing any game which flustrates me as much as your expressing.
Trust is something which is earned.

They are obviously not, as sometimes I press spacebar and jump, other times my character just walks off the edge. Sometimes I press it and jump three feet in the air, other times my feet barely leave the ground. Bad design, period. Poor responsiveness, period.

So many awesome things in that one sentance.

Let's see, change my settings to "Brutal Honesty"

OK, there's nothing fun about this... I enjoyed and continue to enjoy datacron gathering on all my toons so there's clearly something fun involved, oh yea, improving my character. Yes, that's fun.

Nothing involving skill eh? Yet you've posted this very long post about how much you hate them and can't manage a 3 foot jump? So either you can't accomplish something that requires no skill (which says a lot about your skill level), or it does take skill and you're simply frustrated that you've failed a couple of times. You mention you're a Sith, so maybe you didn't get the LS teachings, but it's Do or Do Not, there is no "QQ on the forums" and/or try.

Nothing that reflects any aspect of RPG gaming... So increasing one's stats isn't an aspect of RPG gaming because?
