This may sound naive, but I do not understand the hostility towards those that "buy" their way into game items. Now let me be clear, I do not buy in game items in any online game, but I don't really care if someone else does either.

If I choose to play the game until I get whatever items, and someone else would rather just pony up the cash, well I guess I just don't see why I should care.

My main concern in any game is balance and fun content. I do not like games that require endless grind (I don't have 5 hours a day to blow every day), or cash shop purchases for essential items (I won't put up that kind of financial investment). In games where I can get the gear that I need through regular game play, I could care less if someone else pays for a shortcut or vanity, or grinds for vanity and non-essential gear. I guess I see people paying to get ahead as cheating themselves out of a play experience. Their loss, not mine.

On a side note, the DDO (dungeons and dragons online) hybrid model seems to be working well for them. Oh, and anyone who is not a subscriber (who get free store points each month in addition to access to all major content) is an idiot for buying in-game items in the store. If you don't want to be paying the monthly sub, why would you blow money on things that you can get in game?
