The Planets Feel Too Static

Tatooine sunrises are of legend. One of Jariah Syn's favorite pick up lines was always "Have you ever seen the Tatooine sunrise?"

Here's a story.

My (ex)girlfriend wanted to play a video game.

I got her a new video card, two gamepads, a headset and payed for her subscription to SWG. As soon as she got on Tatooine, I picked her up in my ride and brought her to my bunker on top of Begger's Canyon. She walked around my home thought it was kinda cool. We went outside, and she was all like "It's ok, not all that".

I told her to turn around. And there it was the Tatooine sunrise. She watched it with me and said "Ok now I like this game".

That is an MMO.

I'm sure we will have it soon probably before the summer.

A cool trick I like to do is set my LOD to -3. I use ATI Tray tools. Nvidia has another tool. This actually allows for the floors and walls in buildings and ships to become reflective, which is cool. There is an article on it in swtorstrategies.com

Part of the problem is that most mobs just stand there waiting to get killed. And when I say stand I literally mean stand, they don't have even a patrol route of 2 meters.

Planets, are corridors. The planets are lifeless and dull and leave little drive for exploration.

Not a fan of the world design in the game.

I'm too lazy for complaining. But now I've to /sign the OP. This is one of my major concerns about SW:ToR.

And there's that too.

There are times when I wonder whether this game was originally going to be Kotor 3, and the some corporate head with no insight into computer games decided they should convert their single player game they were working on into an MMO.

Yeah, there is it. That feeling that's hard to describe.

It feels like walking down a corridor. Much like level design in a FPS shooter (Halo comes to mind).

The "no day-night thing" is bugging me more than I expected as well.
The graphics are stunning imo,
but the worlds need to feel more alive.

Well there are a few things I gotta bring up here. First of all, the more natural-looking planets will obviously have more exploration than the city-based ones like Coruscant or Nar Shaddaa. That being said, the natural-looking planets do have quite a bit of square footage on them. Whether you move away from the path or not is up to you.

The datacrons exist so that players are willing to venture off the path. But one thing I will say that caught me offguard, was the lack of general life in the planet.

In WoW you'd encounter farms and huts and different places with civilians just trying to live their lives. But in SWTOR it feels like every noticeable place you go to is a settlement for questgivers or mobs to kill. You don't get that sense that people live in these planets apart from the major cities.

This nailed it for me. This is what I could not put my finger on.
