Anybody think SWTOR a great value for the money?

All subscription MMOs are great value for money, compared to other forms of entertainment availalable.

Relatively speaking, within the domain of MMOS, SWTOR is good value for money. The cost of the game plus however many months you pay for to wear out the content is pretty good value (probably more so for casual players than hardcore) for the hours of fun it gives you.

WoW is better value for money at this stage, but it's been around longer and therefore has more content.

EVE Online is a bit of a ripoff, since it's the most expensive MMO subscription around, and yet players largely create their own content - on the other hand, it's a better MMORPG than either WoW or SWTOR.

Everytime I mention another MMO out there which is worse than this game, someone calls that MMO garbage.

So I don't get it.

In the realm of space faring MMORPGs, there's TOR, STO and EVE.

TOR's the most fun of them all.

This is just wrong. There are a lot of people who only play this for the following reasons:

1. Star Wars
2. Bioware
3. Story driven
4. Sci-Fi

All these people don't care about WoW, GW2 or other MMORPGs not fitting their specific reason for choosing SWTOR.

Personally, I played most MMOs on the market, enjoyed some, hated others. The reason why I came back to this genre for SWTOR is a mix of point 1, 2 and 3.

I know right. If you're not whining you're not with the in-crowd on these forums lol...

and if youre not singing this games praises youre a troll. no one wins.

I think it is a great value for my wife and I.

But you haven't paid the $15 yet. Unless you're admitting that you actually didn't cancel and plan on playing next month, which makes you a hypocrite.

So which is it, are you lying or are you a hypocrite?

I'll echo that to a degree. Yes, I am still having fun-- and yes, I am still subbed. But a great value for the money?

No.

I would call it, at this point in time, a fair value for the money. Not anywhere near great, but nowhere near where I feel cheated or a desire to abandon ship, just yet.

Are there better MMOs out there? In my opinion, yes (and don't automatically assume I mean WoW). Why am I not playing them? Because I spent my time there, and wanted a change of scenery. SWTOR is that change right now. Wanting to play an MMO doesn't mean I have to play the one I feel is the best, just one that I find fun and at least worth the money.

SWTOR is incomplete. It may be fine to you, but they really didn't do their homework on what to release or EA forced them to push it out the door before it was ready.

If all you want is a Star Wars MMO then you'll accept what they give you. People stayed with SWG til the end. People play STO even though it's feature light.

I love Star Wars, but I also love LOTR and Warcraft 2 and 3 and Diablo from Blizzard. I was also a fan of the Conan comics and books. My love of Star Wars doesn't blind me to this games current failings and questionable design and patching decisions. Beyond that I like good games. Right now SWTOR isn't worth the money relative to other games. Sure $15 a month is nothing but I limit my disposable income and pick the best options for it. I also use it to reward products I think deserve it. SWTOR earned my initial purchase, it just hasn't earned my subscription dollars.
