Rose tinted glasses are a PITA..

Let me start off by saying. SWTOR is no where NEAR perfect. It isn't, its got bugs everywhere, some gamebreaking, some not. Its missing features the devs said would be at launch only to realize they couldn't make launch due to the time constraints, ect.

It is, however, the smoothest launch I personally have EVER experienced, and I've played ALOT of MMOs in my day. In addition to that, they've also handled their first patch quite well.

To compare, since everyone seems to compare blizzard and bioware since they're the two with the top MMOs on the market.

World of warcraft, upon release, was borderline unplayable for the first weak. I don't mean slow, or long queues(although those things happened), but i mean entire servers would crash for 5-6 hours at a TIME.

Every major patch, to date, has made the entire game unplayable for the 24 hours after.
Regular maintenance usually goes on for 5 or so hours after the "expected" time.
Every time a dungeon or raid is released, there are COUNTLESS bugs that make them either playable, or exploitable to make them easily beaten.

Not to mention every expansion, or patch, there is a HUGE outcry demanding blizzards head on a platter. Every change they make, every bug they fix, there is someone whining and saying they quit.

But now that we're on a BIOWARE game, suddenly all of those faults are forgiven, blizzard are saints and bioware are the devil incarnate.

Yea, rose tinted glasses SUCK.

not to mention wow has had patches that were dozens of time's worse than this one.

wow-3.0 made the game unplayable for several days, and completely broke class balance for several weeks.

tor-1.1 made ilum unplayable for a single day.

I don't understand why someone who enjoys the game "has" to be wearing rose tinted glasses. Perhaps they are just having fun despite the flaws, or perhaps the flaws simply don't affect their interests.

Case in point: I don't PvP much, and I don't care about the Ilum warzone. I'm on a PvE server so Imps with PvP gear don't bother me.

Ergo, I don't really care about what happened yesterday. I wouldn't even know about it if not for the forums. I did some flashpoints, ran some quests, played my alt a bit -- it was a normal day for me.

These forums will be a lot better once people stop using them as their personal blogs.

[That means you OP]

You, clearly didn't read the post..

This entire post is, basically agreeing with you...The game is great, but is has its flaws, every game does. But its still better handed then WoW ever was, yet due to nostalgia and rose tinted glasses, everyone acts like WoW was -perfect-

Don't you know, now that we aren't giving money to Blizzard, they're saintly angels that can do no wrong, and have no faults.

The same happened in Rift. People were mad about Trion constantly releasing bug-fixes, every other day, and they said the customer service was terrible. People tried to explain that the rate at which they released content and fixed bugs was superhuman, but the complainers said that they should release bugless content....

like Blizzard.

It's a plague. The second you stop paying one company monthly, and start paying another, you look at the faults that your money is going to, and look at the benefits your money COULD be going to.

And apparently everyone comes onto general to flame SWTOR for being a horrible MMO when its essentially what Vanilla WoW was when it came out, in both content and bugs. At least Bioware adds things to the game. Blizzard removes RPG elements with every expansion. And difficulty. And anything that requires a shred of effort.

If anything this game will get better, regardless of what you think of it right now. I personally find it amusing. But it isnt perfect...

If it bothers you don’t read it. If you choose to read it, deal with it.

Wow was launched when, in 2004?

How many more MMO's have launched since then that Bioware/EA was able to study the rollout on before launching SWTOR? 10? 20? More? How much has server technology progressed since then? How about internet speeds? Client computer speeds?

You cannot compare WoW launch with SWTOR launch in any way, shape or form. Saying SWTOR's launch went smoother than WoW's is like saying a doctor is better at heart surgery than an 13 yr old kid is. Of course it went smoother, they had 8 freakin' years worth of other MMO launches to learn from!

BW/EA basically had the answers to the test right in front of them and they still failed.
