They're great, unless you're on a low population server.. Then the 50's get really screwed over.

Goes to show that Expertise is a huge mistake. If you're gonna copy WoW, at least don't copy the bad stuff too.

Agree. He must be a troll!

How can you complain about the 1-49 bracket when we Just got rid of the 50s? O.o

And the bolster effect pretty much cancels it out! I have seen lvl 40+ players do jack against me (I'm a healer) simply because they are crappy PvP:ers. And then the fight after, I get jumped by a 20+ player who actually pushes me to the edge of my ability to survive.

Blame it all you want on abilities, levels, flawed bolster, OP classes and whatnot, it wont change the fact that skill matters much! This is partly why I like swtor so much, skill does matter more than in any MMO I've seen up to date.

wow you make no sense.

im glad those useless low level scrubs are out of my warzone, making things much smoother and the 3 wins for bm bag are faster than ever.

The good thing about a PVP stat is it means that PVE raiders won't steamroll players in PVP.

The problem with a difficult/gated process to obtain said PVP stat is of course that people with more time will always have an advantage regardless of actual skill level.

It serves a purpose but having PVP gear be the carrot means you're always going to have to deal with expertise.

Basically without a PVP stat; high end raid gear (which requires you be 50 anyway) will be filling in the war zones. With a PVP stat, players who can grind more will always have an advantage. Price of being a gear based MMO.

Ya, this patch really did prove that 50 expertise gear was the entirety of what was winning the game for them.

10-49 is absolutely fantastic, and while bolster doesn't make a 10 as good as a 49- it gives them a chance at both not dying immediately and dealing some damage and heals.

WZ are so much fun this way, best pvp in an mmo at this moment. Glad they also fixed the stealth capping exploit.

It will leave a sour taste in the mouth of many having witnessed the travesty of allowing the most dedicated players, those who rushed to 50 first, to farm lowbies in premades all day long, no doubt.
Especially since the number of 50's really rose to levels that destroyed pretty much every single warzone within the last week or two for players playing lowbie alts or just taking their time.
But at least now we have functional PvP pre 50.

So screw-ups aside. Good job Bioware!
For myself, and it appears others, it's too late and the fiasco today just made it worse.

Good luck.

Warhammer online, Rift, Age of Conan, Aion. those are the most recent games I remember that released with instanced PvP right at launch. All of them bracketed. All of them worked. Why was SWTOR different?

Had there been a 50s only bracket a few weeks ago, queue times would have been astronomical. When I hit 50 (about 2 days after the full launch), there were 4 other 50s on my faction total. We wouldn't have been able to PvP at all.
That's what happens when you rush to the highest level.
That's what happened in other games and people had to deal with it. You say it yourself, there were only very few 50's, so only a minuscule amount of people would have had to find something else to do in the game for a few days until the rest could catch up.
However the PvP experience was destroyed for a much bigger amount of people.

Bioware is not nearly as stupid as the forums would have you believe. The 1-50 bracket was a great idea for launch, and they've ended the practice less than a month later as it has served its purpose. Overall, I think things worked out despite the irrational rage that pervades this board.
I really doubt we will see something like this any time soon in a game again. We didn't really see it before and for a reason...it really is not a good idea at all.
I understand you feel differently about it since you were one of those "early" 50's apparently, but that is pretty much the only argument I ever saw from people "it serves me well so it is good, **** the majority that is still leveling and getting majorly trolled when they join a WZ now"

exactly. I can't understand where the fun is supposed to be being dragged down by useless canon fodder that cannot make much of a difference no matter how good of a player they are. And it certainly is no fun to beat opponents that pose no challenge, at least for me. I can see why some people enjoy that though.

I guess the problem is many people do not enjoy PvP for the experience itself but just waant to farm gear with as little effort as possible. That's just sad.

I forgot to mention the best part- queues have gone down significantly because people are actually queuing since they know they won't just get stomped over and over! Instant queues non-stop, it's awesome.

This was the best pvp decision they've made.
