Lightsaber Dagger | 10.23.2009 , 03:05 PM
Just curious as to whether folks are thinking that the spy/assassin in the newest Threat Of Peace was using a lightsaber dagger type of weapon, or if the panel simply illustrated a lightsaber in partial extension from the hilt. To me, looked like a dagger, as in a following panel we see the hilt sticking out of someone's back (won't even go into the bizarre physics there lol) but no blade coming out of their chest. Just a thought for all the folks out there who like a large variety of light weapons. For the record, I am NOT one of these people lol.

Geez, I hope not. I think George Lucas only wanted jedi/sith to wield lightsabers but then again look at Aurra Sing. I would hope that only force using classes would use lightsabers and if you don't like the force or force powers then you could just specialize in lightsaber combat through talents I hope.

It looks short in the first pic because its pointed at an angle away from the reader. Notice the way his hand is.

You dont see it coming out his chest because it would have to be curved in order for you to see it since the angle its at would put it outside the scope of the picture.

Im not specifically "against" the idea of a dagger lightsaber form... I would MUCH rather see the implementation of the Light Whip instead tho.

dagger lightsaber? ***? what would the point in carrying a lightsaber dagger exactly be? the weight would be pretty much the same as a normal lightsaber, only differance is i wouldn't be able to carve a person in 2 pieces in 1 slash.

While I agree... you know they DID have different length lightsabers. These included standard length, short blades, pikes, whips, and even the "dual phase" sabers used by vader and dooku which allowed them to switch between a longer or shorter blade. Short blades allowed for faster strikes and less interference from obsticles where longer blades gave more power and momentum.

I always love it when you guys pick up on stuff in the comic. I try to sneak in as many game content hints as I can. At least that way, whatever you may feel about the art or the story, there's still something there to make it worth reading.

The weapon in question here is actually a supercharged Imperial vibroblade. It's shorter than the traditional vibroblade--designed for one-shot stealth attacks. The blade's powercell releases one massive jolt of energy when the weapon hits its target, rendering it largely useless afterward, but usually, of course, the target is in pretty much the same state.

Will you get to wield these weapons in the game? I can neither confirm nor deny that. Suffice to say, if you do, don't bother trying it against Baras. Electricity is practically running through his veins in the first place. You don't want to wind up like the would-be assassin the comic. Maybe if you try two?

It looked cool but I don't know how it would play in a sci fi game running round with daggers trying to sneak attack other people. I imagine its more a hint at one of the sith agents special attacks (a nice reveal of the sith agent in action as the counter point to the smuggler with cover) than a weapon reveal.

We know the sith and jedi will have swords I would imagine after that the devs will try and stay as far away from melee as possible. With the overcharge shot something the agent and the smuggler do to their pistols more than daggers.

As much as I want to say you can't just take it to mean that... because you really can't, that would seem to be the most reasonable interpretation.

Will be interesting to see if this is a weapon of choice to use from stealth attacks via a backstab + stun etc… Cheers for additional sneaky info update Rob
