The point here is NEW, the game is not even officially 1 month old since it released December 20th. I personally, as well as alot of people I know and people I have met in game have enjoyed it so far. Alot of people came over from various other MMO's or are just here bacause they are die hard Star Wars fans, or even both.

This game is for people that want something new and exciting, of course it's not going to have everything, everyone wants right away. It has to compete with WoW, EQ and many other MMO's who have had the time to implement the new ideas that people wanted at the time.

Take WoW for instance, I played the beta and played on release and until this game came I still played and was very good at the game. But look at that game on release, so many server crashes, no markers on maps to indicate where to go, no quest tracking, nothing in the sort compared to what it is now, it eventually got good, it eventually had addons. And now it has plush fat panda's and pokemon. Yeah have fun there.

For anyone else reading I recommend sticking to the game, it has some big companies working on it that know what the current fan base wants and it will deliver, again in time because the game is new. Sure there will be bugs, sure there are a few things missing but like anything great, it never starts that way and from what I saw in the new patch it's going well and reading developer notes, the upcoming ideas and events will make this game better in every way despite what random fail or whining players say
Wow, what an incredibly stupid post.

You refute your entire point by saying " It has to compete with WoW, EQ and many other MMO's who have had the time to implement the new ideas that people wanted at the time."

So this is a PvE first game, huh? Who knew...besides anyone that even remotely paid attention during development.

I'm ignoring everyone that makes a rage quit post until the 23rd (since technically they could have waited until the 22nd to put in their retail key), just to see how many of them actually quit, or at least stop posting.
You are playing a frickin video game.
You are not hardcore by any reasonable definition.

Tbh, i couldnt care less about illum, and although i know its a good feature to have in the game, and people were/are looking forward to it, but some people seem to forget that its completely optional.

If you think its a good enough reason to unsub, then you shouldnt have even bought the game. So what if they make a mistake, theyr'e not stupid jeez...

Thats how to make world pvp work, make it so that everyone is constantly "bumping" into each other while they compete for the same resources, the pvp will happen naturally as a result.

In SW:TOR we will never have anything like that, thats why world pvp will never work.
Yet when people explained this in repeated comments, threads, and other discussions, the response from PvPers was 'you must have world PvP or the game is dead!!111!'.

So Bioware gave them what they asked for. That it was doomed to failure because the game was never designed with it in mind was a minor detail.

For the record, I enjoy PvP & I heartily support PvP. I just find it astonishing that people insist on it being crammed into every game sideways whether it conceptually works or not. If you want world PvP, you need a world designed with PvP in mind. TOR does not appear to have this, at least at the moment. I think this might be something that can be fixed in time, but it's certainly not trivial.

Edit: For a concrete example, consider how despite pointing it out in beta, it was not until a few builds before launch that they even had level 50 guards anywhere. The game's development did not actively test nor actively consider much in the way of world PvP. I can't even remember if there was a survey question about it (there was about Warzones). It was an afterthought, thrown in to satisfy those loudly crying for it. Well, at least you can't allege Bioware didn't listen...
For 2000 Cartel Coins, a year-old game breaking bug may get fixed.
For $20, an epic death scene for your character is unlocked to end your overly expensive class story. Subscribers pay $10.

Yes, because everyone is going to leave the game because of the issue of faction imbalances on Ilum. That's the only problem, is that Empires outnumber Repunlic by 2:1 or 3:1 ratio. If people quit because there is a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio on Ilum, then whatever. I mean they were okay with this pre-patch, why the sudden change of heart? Oh wait, no more free gear.

World PvP has never been successful. I love it, but it's a fact that it always fails, due to faction imbalances.

Planetside didn't have the same kind of elements this game has, which makes certain sides more appealing. So there wasnt as big of a balance issue.
