If they gave better rewards for Open World PvP than they did Arenas, no one would set foot in an arena, except for maybe their one or two games to see what it was all about.

In my opinion this game needs ranked warzones that can be queued as an 8m team. The way the maps are designed and the way in which the classes have amazing synergy when played well would open up worlds of different comps and strategies in high level organised play.

Can you imagine a huttball match where its not a big zerg in the centre but instead each team has 3-4 people in the center and the remainder of the team engaging in small 1v1 or 2v2 skirmishes holding the higher and side platforms in order to set up a pass line on both sides. Suddenly you have a use for tanks and healers (sorc + guarding tank at enemy goal line, gives pull abilities and a hard to kill healer right on their spawn point), snipers/gunslingers stationary defending the top ramps only handling the ball enough to pass it further on etc etc...
Personally I think this would be amazing
this would be amazing, i must say though the zergs in the middle will start dying when the opposing faction catches up gear wise, most notably my guild and I laugh at the Over geared Zergs since we know that we can and will out play them since they have never had to actually learn how to play the game. got 4 50s so far in the guild and the others are coming along slowly... soon we will make them cry on the forums how unfair it si that we pass over there team and throw to people in good positions...

Warzones are bad enough.
There is any open world pvp in SWTOR? HAHA
But really so whats SWTOR pvp about? Just farm valor pvp ranks, commendations and random loot from pvp boxes...
Valor pvp ranks just track your activity - well better to say how many warzones you played. At the moment people with highest valor rank are mostly afkers. And of course high valor rank mean nothing... you can be total noob/clicker and still reach valor rank 65+ without any problem... just queue up warzones and keep it up.
Gear isnt reward for skilled players who reached some rating or something... its just random loot

support arenas

only if:

1. no rewards
2. no end all pvp style
3. 4v4 only

only thing you get is titles.

or some orange gear like social ones. but only for looks.

yes, you can have a successful mmo based around world bosses and pve raids and lore and fuzzy wuzzy type stuff. but developers are SERIOUSLY lagging behind when it comes to realizing that people want GOOD, MEANINGFUL pvp. look at the success of games like starcraft, dota, league of legends, wow.. there are tons of people who play those games. maybe never play competitively. but it's the fact that pvp is the best way for communities to get carried.

this game needs ladders, laddered pvp of some kind (I don't care if its arena or warzone or some other thing that's never been introduced before) and pvp-based tweaks such as warzone lag issues, people not showing up in raid frames, more responsive and customizable (to some degree at least) UI

not to mention random bag rolls for gear is terrible, you'd think they would learn from warhammer that nobody likes that.

Before any competitive PvP can be implemented they need to fix healers. In current state, if there would be arena, it would be flooded by Full-DPS comps only, as healer barely can keep up even with 1 competent DPS on them.
Strong healers promote skilled pvp with CC, interrupts, positioning and los. Weak healers promote only mindless zergs.

Arena only serves a small portion of the pvp community. It was and is a joke in WoW, and Rift was boring across the board-- no pvp changes could've saved it.

I really doubt you'll see another Arena system like WoW in an MMO that isn't built around it. It's a silly amount of work for very little payoff, unless you're Blizzard and are trying to e-sport your MMO (which is hilarious in and of itself).

Add a pole vaulting simulator to the game. I've been multiple pole vaulting world champion and therefore have enough experience to say the without pole vaulting this game will die. Fo shizzle.
