LOL! at you people stating that an Arena system needs to be added. If you dont remember fully that Blizzard themselves stated that they regret EVER implementing an Arena system because players like you guys sat there and complained about every little PVE buff or nerf they did to classes and how it was going to affect PVP play. There for there was never a good balance between all the specs and classes and as a result to whining players that were never satisfied of the gameplay. Bioware already stated that they will probably NEVER implement an Arena system into their game, HOWEVER! they did say that they had plans of Ranked Warzones which is fine with me.

Blizzard said Arena's partially ruined their game. Why do you think Bioware would take the same risk?

hmmmm......

Go play Wow if you want arenas and instead of demanding crap how about you come up with

a positive way to get a certain feature in a game without gimping the ones already in .

I'm not saying you shouldnt pvp in this style of game, i'm saying if your looking for competetive gaming its the wrong type of game. Bit of fun pvp yeah... competetive esport? nah. This game clearly wasn't designed with that in mind, it has neither the balance or the high skillcap required for such a game.
(yes blizzard made an esport out of arena, and were forced to gut the game to make it work - and it's still a a joke to all but arena players who seem to think its the height of competetive gaming)

Maybe if they took the arena idea and just put a group of 4 people vs 4 people in a map the size of a BG or something without any objectives @_@?

Anyway, as for arenas it gets pretty old in 2v2 or 3v3 when you're fighting the same fotm combo over and over again. Also pillar dancing is not pvp in my book... but what do I know... I wasn't a gladiator, I was a Emerald Ridere.

Either I'd go back in time to before WoW ever shipped and change the rules to make the basic game more conductive for being an e-sport, or if not that, just say it doesn't make sense.

If I could go back in time before we shipped WoW, I would have either made serious changes to basic class balance to facilitate that type of play, or if I went back to when we had the idea two years later, I would have said, "Maybe we shouldn't go there."

You're right, we can. However I think mine is the most objective. The overall message that I get from what he is trying to convey is that he regrets the implementation of arenas in WoW. The current implementation of arenas in WoW sucks, and it was a big mistake.

Edit: Also the fact that he's willing to suggest that if he had the ability to go back and tell give himself information that he would potentially just say that it's a bad idea shows that perhaps he thinks arenas in general is a bad concept for an MMO, which it is. It's a terrible concept, especially for World of Warcraft. Hell all of World of Warcraft's implementations of interactions between Alliance and Horde that aren't bloodthirsty battles to the death are garbage. Too much collaboration between factions against "a greater threat". Boaring.

I completely agree that Arenas are something that will keep hardcore players around.

I don't mind if they don't give you gear for doing arena. But they should add ranked arenas and leaderboards. They could also make it so that everyone in arenas would have "equal" gear. If they kind of used same set of stats for all players of the same class. It would make it even more fun.

The game isn't going to die without arena. Less than 5% of the WoW population participates in arena, especially now that there is an alternative in Rated BGs.

The game needs competitive PvP (Rated WZs), but it does NOT need arenas. All they lead to are balance problems and people moaning on the forums about stuff that doesn't matter.

The problem is and never will be the lack of competetive pvp.

The problem is and ever will be the lack of fun pvp.

Fun =/= competetive.
