This reminds me of Jedi Outcast multiplayer.

I have to wonder. Was the OP an Imp or Republic character. Would be really sad if a bored Imp troll just drove off a potential PvPer willing to fill out the undermanned opposition for a cheap kill.

As a question re: PVP servers (so far in TOR I've kept to PVE)- are there no "safe" spots and/or ways to turn off PVP? (most others I played at least gave you a place to park where you couldn't be ganked immediately on log). I agree 100% that PVP = unexpected death, but seems like a cantina should be different?

I believe the OPs point was---------------> WHY would a level 50 gank a level 30 that is minding their own business? It's not like the 30 was taunting the 50 (if the facts of the story are true).

On a PvP server, the answer is...... because they can, and they are probably repressed bullies in real life.

As for location being an cantina..... well isn't it bars where bullies like to gank people IRL? Maybe there should be elite bouncers in cantinas?

OP, record the name of the character and when you see him when you are level 50, pwn him over and over again. Cap players that gank players 20 levels below them are usually not very good at PvP.
When you find yourself surrounded by hostile Clowns... always go for the "Juggler" first.

There are plenty of safe spots. But Alderaan just isn't one of them, cantina or otherwise. It's a heavily contested region.

Cantinas in the Star Wars universe are not known for being safe areas. In fact, more bar fights, please!

It is this reason exactly why I don't ever roll on PvP servers.

This is the thing many of the PvPers defending and perpetrating this kind of behaviour don't seem to get. I'll give you an example.

At STO, there is almost NO PvP. The reason is, even at early levels, Klingons have a significant advantage, and Federation players get rolled with ease. No one likes being fodder for someone else's fun, so these early level PvPers stop PvPing. This in turn means there are no higher level PvPers, because they all quit when they were lower level.

Then the PvPers complain that no one is PvPing and that it's dead out there. They don't seem to realize that THEY are the ones that killed it.

I've seen the same thing in many games. I call this kind of thing GRIEFING because that's what it amounts to. If you're having fun at someone else's expense, especially if they clearly can't compete, then it's griefing, and should be actionable.

Of course, this would be far less of a problem if there were no combat levels to unbalance these situations, but that's a whole other thread.

I feel your pain.

What you have to realise though is that PVP servers is where bullies hang out. Not every PVP player is a bully but the few that are will make your life miserable, especially if you don't have guildmates who can come and give them a taste of their own medicine.

If you don't like being bullied then don't play on a PVP server. If you choose PVP then you have to accept that sometimes you are going to get bullied.

On forums like this it is usually easy to tell who the bullies are. They use the word "carebear".
