I don't understand why people care? If a Merc/Commando chooses to spam TM, so be it. First, they aren't optimizing their dps at all. Also, they basically have to grow roots to do it, which is quite often disastrous in pvp. This makes it much easier to interrupt their cast times as well as set up nasty situational damage when butting heads with them. Finally, I've got a merc and i've got a shadow. My roommate has a Jugg. The jugg is no more complicated than the merc. The shadow is only somewhat more. It's still a simple game, and the skill trees pretty much explain the order you're going to be doing things. It makes me laugh as I read people go on as if they are piloting a spaceshuttle. When playing old socom games, I used to grind my teeth as snipers picked me off from everywhere. I responded not by writing the devs, but satisfyingly spraying them in the face with my submachine gun while weaving behind smokescreens. If you hate seeing a Merc crouch to take a crap as he sets off fireworks to celebrate the occasion, let him know how you feel by messing him up with all of your CCs and your own nasty tricks.

Off the top of my head:

tracer missile
heat seeking missile
railshot
explosive dart
unload
Missile blast (instant AoE to stop multiple people capping)
Death from Above
Power Surge
The skill that makes your next skill cost no heat
jet Boost
Electrodart
Energy Shield
Rocket Punch
Vent Heat
Kolto Overload
Fusion missile

I need to use all of those to my advantage to be successful in pvp. Sure, if someone stays 30 yards away, im only going to use TM, HSM, RS and unload, but if they just stand there, they are doing it wrong.
Exactly plus all of our heals and cure abilities plus stealth scan. Merc has tons of utility, all the trolls in here got blown up by tracer missle spammer so just throw the class under the bus entirely. Don't speak on a class unless your level 50 of that class and know how to move with the mouse.... If your not keybinding and using your entire Aresenal of abilities, I.e. situationals then your doing it wrong....

Actually, here's my response from one of the hundred other threads just like this one:

Yup, I'm a Merc. The most I ever use Tracer is twice (2 times) in a row, to start a rotation. Usually I won't even do the 2nd, as I anticipate being interrupted, or know it will allow the enemy to get into melee range. (if they're fighting someone else, I'll do the 2nd)

1. Tracer isn't fully instant; it's takes a bit of time from keystroke to missile hit/damage
2. BH has to stay still to fire them; no movement
3. Auto-face only works for already-started attack (in other words, the BH was already facing you when they fired it)
4. Fusion Missile and Heat-Seeker both do more damage (and Unload and Rail, which will frequently Crit, do then as well)
5. Every WZ has lots of obstacles. (see # 1) It's so easy to 'duck' behind something, then pop back out and keep fighting. (I do this against other BH's and Commandos)
6. Tracer is interruptable

If you get killed by Tracer Spam.... there is but one response: "learn 2 play!!!"

Tracer Missile wasn't even close to a Merc's most powerful attack.
Suckwads spammed it, other suckwads lost to it.
Most apparently didn't even know they had an interrupt. Smart nerf, BW!

This thread made me think of First World Problems

Stop worrying about how other people play the game. Some folks would rather pay more attention to the environment than their rotation. Some people don't want to play a rotation that feels like work after working all day. Seriously...

It's not like they are OP. You can knock them back, stun, interrupt, LOS. If you let a turret class turret, you are supposed to die.

And this whole attitude that one class takes more skill to play in this game over another is just silly. With the lack of variety in this game, all classes have basically the same abilities with a different animation. They all have a hard hitter, some defensive CDs, and some situational abilities. Not to mention everyone gets a knock back or stun. Gimme a break with this "skill" attitude. Are you kidding me. Only skill in this game is being able to actually make an ability activate when you push it the first time. Now if you figure that out pls write bw and tell them the trick....

Actually, Math has been successfully done to show BHs have a lower skill cap because they actually have a higher resource pool.

Look at the amount of heat a BH gets, and the amount of ammo a commando gets, and equivalent skill costs.

It actually makes BHs have a higher pool, so they can spam things more then a commando can before running out of resource.

It's really not much different than the madness sorc I play. People say all we do is spam force lightning but we need to do so to proc wrath.

What people should focus on is if a merc has to spam tracer missiles then make sure you interrupt their tracer missiles. Sounds like an interrupt on tracer missiles destroys their whole game plan.
