Dart is good for backloading a burst on someone when combined with other abilities. You'll do more overall damage with something else, but in PvP, the less chance a healer has to react, the better.

I wouldn't use it in the way he does, though. I generally go for Tracer > Dart > Tracer > HSM > Railshot > Unload. That way the 2nd tracer, the dart, HSM and Railshot all go off within a short span and Unload can finish the job. If it's just a dps race between me and smuggler or something, though, I usually don't bother with it.

It's fun to interrupt Gav Round and Tracer Missle and watch the look on the Bounty Hunter/Troopers faces when their whole rotation get's screwed up and they're not sure what to do next.

99,9% of them start to backpedal.

because our most damage/heat efficient rotation is boring, and simple does not mean that is all we use.

Off the top of my head:

tracer missile
heat seeking missile
railshot
explosive dart
unload
Missile blast (instant AoE to stop multiple people capping)
Death from Above
Power Surge
The skill that makes your next skill cost no heat
jet Boost
Electrodart
Energy Shield
Rocket Punch
Vent Heat
Kolto Overload
Fusion missile

I need to use all of those to my advantage to be successful in pvp. Sure, if someone stays 30 yards away, im only going to use TM, HSM, RS and unload, but if they just stand there, they are doing it wrong.

Ever seen a bounty hunter heal? Rapid Scan, Rapid Scan, Rapid Scan, (interrupt), Healing Scan, Run away.

They're not solely AOE; they still do decent DoT to the player themselves, right? (especially Fusion, which does massive DOT and helps offset all these Rakata-pack-poppers)

Also, that example is assuming the other playing stays in range the whole time. If I gotta chase them down, Stun Dart, Explosive Dart, Railshot, and (the 2 most basic starter attacks, forget their names) Missile(?) and Rapid Shot(?) work well to keep up the pressure.

I just don't use Tracer all that much.

Tracer Missile wasn't even close to a Merc's most powerful attack.
Suckwads spammed it, other suckwads lost to it.
Most apparently didn't even know they had an interrupt. Smart nerf, BW!

You usually have to choose whether you debuff your target to set up burst, or deal acceptable amounts of damage. In its current state tracer is the ultimate package.
True, but that also means if it is interrupted you loose that all

But honestly, does anyone acutally enjoy just standing there and pusing one button? Does anyone even think that's "SKILL". No offense but you play a friedly class that literally an ape can play. I really can't blame you, Mythic made it possible, so I guess why not take advantage of it, but don't pretend it takes skill.
PT doesn't have TM. Nice lie to make yourself sound educated in the class.

You don't like, go cry to BW, not us.

In that rotation I listed, Railshot and Unload still happen within the "setup time" of Tracer, so they still benefit from the Tracer buffs.

Sometimes I cut that rotation down and hit another Tracer towards the end to refresh the armor debuff if it's a tank.
