You need to bear in mind that the difference between bolstered level 12's and 50's is a very large one. The difference between biochem 50's (right now, prior to 1.1) and non-biochem is a very large one. The difference based purely on expertise is a comparitively very small one - especially after you get past the first week and have a few pieces yourself.

Really the much bigger PVP problem was 50 vs 20 and besides that, individual class/faction imbalances and issues with cover, ravage/master strike and other skills activating properly. Champ gear vs commendation gear @ 50 is a skill-mitigatable difference that is short term in nature.

Also, regarding battlemaster gear - you cannot get that from PVP farming - only from dailies. So your real issue would have to be people power leveling to 50 to get more weekly's and dailies than you. A full set of champ gear is like a week unless you're horrendously unlucky and that should change a lot with how the bags are changing in 1.1.

Last paragraph doesn't apply as much to this thread but the TL;DR is that expertise is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Hitting 'F' five times in a row before I take cover as a gunslinger or starting master strike only to stop half way through without doing any damage or and no cooldown (wasting 3-4 seconds of real time) is much worse, or broken resolve bars or the 30 second CD discrep between scoundrel and IA and the dozen other things are much worse.

I didn't post that but I know you acknowledged it. However, I will say this. I wouldn't mind if it took longer than someone with terrible luck. Honestly, I don't care how long it takes. Shorter. Longer. As long as it's consistent and the same for everyone I could care less.

Do you play on an RP-pve server?

Seriously, there's no way a 19 is "topping the charts" a 19 dies in like 2 seconds to geared 50's.

I say that as a moderately geared 50. You're playing some terribaddies if you are doing "just fine" as a 19 against geared 50's.

You too. I have nothing against you about our debate. I am aware we have different opinions. I'm currently unsatisfied with the system but not the game. SWTOR is the best game I've played (my opinion of course) I complain about the bags because it's the only frustrating thing about the game. To be honest, for it to be my only complaint, isn't bad.

I'm actually much more concerned about what they will add a year from now when they expand. Hopefully it won't be 3 new tiers of expertise gear. Will just have to cross my fingers.

Yes, you'll be screwed but you'll just have to gear up fast. It's not hard... But even more screwed vs the first wave of battlemasters before the changes on Tuesday.

I worked hard to stay ahead of the curve and focused on getting PvP gear asap. Still not full set, but nearly.

Why should a fresh 50 be able to stomp me? Rendering all that time I spent as a waste.

This always happens in MMO's, we saw it coming so we worked that bit harder to gear up asap to give us an advantage early. Not our fault if others didn't..

level 50 , valor 38 . an so far after 32 bags .... ZERO items . just a couple cent comms and loot every bag . With the level 50 only bracket comming in . I hav eno motivation to pvp when the sith side of the server I play on is already running premade groups of level 50's who are all battlemasters and warlords fully geared out . I may as well be a level 10 trying to pvp a level 50 . the Difference with expertise is too large to overcome .



Great job Bioware for balancing pvp ....


best way to do it is :


1) kill expertise entirely . seriously people with no lives an grind out 400+ expertise are immpossible to even damage let alone kill if you have 0 expertise . It's really fun watching a group of low levels with no exertise gear try to kill a fully geared out battlemaster who just yawns an aoe's the group once an bang your all dead . how is that balanced ? .... Someone explain the logic of this please .


2) Don't bracket the level 50's by themselves , you do have a bolster mechanic , use it .


3) Do seperate players based on valor ranks . valor 1 - 30 get there own bracket . 31- 40 there own bracket , 41 - 50 there own bracket . 51 - 60 there own bracket and 65 + there own seperate bracket .

4) open up pvp warzones to a pool of cross servers .


5) allow an 8 person ops team to que up for a warzone . Some guilds like grouping up together to do stuff from warzones to missions to operations . Why can't we do this for a warzone .


these are simple and easy methods that gives a more balanced pvp layout , that encourages rather then discourages people to pvp . Under the current formula it's not alot of fun to pvp before level 50 . an yet now the brilliant plan is to put all the level 50's from fresh 50's that have 0 level 50 pvp stuff an expect them to face off with fully geared out level 50 warlords etc ... This places the fresh 50's into a chopping block of fail for trying to reach enough comm's to buy anything remotly worthwhile . They will not be able to complete weekly and dailies due to the gear differential . Bioware will effectivly ruin pvp at level 50 based upon the brilliant plan to segregate level 50's into one bracket .

Was 50 dec 18th, been doing dailies every day since, valor rank 62. Still missing 4 pieces of champ gear . I did get enough champ commendations to buy my helm yesterday though. My BM luck not much better apparently .
The point to all this, if you're valor rank 60+ and have been 50 awhile you've been able to buy all the centurion gear to fill in what you're missing.
I suspect they implemented the rng system to even out the imbalance that the people with a lot of time to spend garner.
I myself was fairly annoyed for a bit that rank 30's had better gear than I did at rank 59, however if you take the time to step back and think about it. Eventually if you have more time to play you're still going to amass better gear its just not going to be a massive difference.
Also with the change coming tomorrow you'll be able to farm your full set of BM gear /shrug.
