It's poor design by the PvP experts that designed this game.

Why would you make 2 advanced classes per side with a 1 skill rotation.

Are we playing this on Atari controllers or something?

I honestly think Sorcs/Sages are much worse with Force Lighting/Sage equivalent because it has a snare as well.

It's funny because all match long that's all those classes will use for 90% of a match.

While I know I shouldn't be surprised by the ignorance of posters on this board, the 2-piece bonus you are referring to is from the Rakata Eliminator set. That's a PvE set. Not the PvP set. The 2-piece of the PvP Eliminator set is a 5s CD reduction to Jet Boost/Concussion Charge. The 4-piece bonus is a +15% increased crit chance on Rail Shot/High Impact Bolt.

I was actually smiling when I wrote this because I find mercs hilarious. I love force leap interrupting a derp missile and critting all in their face! Just pointing out the class takes no skill. Prove me wrong. Let's see vids bro!!!

Every single person in this thread has absolutely no clue how Merc dps works. If you really think that tracer missile is the reason that I'm killing you, that's probably the reason why you're so bad / qqing.

** My Unload ticks can crit for 2-2.5k. Thats 6-7k if all 3 crit.

~~ My Heatseeker can crit for 4-5k, and its an instant cast (It's also buffed by the amount of heat sigs that are applied by tracer missile, 2 tracers = 4 heat sigs, 3 = 5)

** Raid Shot can crit for 2.5k+, and its an instant cast (Its also buffed by stacking Tracer Missile)

* Sometimes for a little extra surprise burst at the start of a fight, I'll toss on an explosive charge, which can crit for around 2k.


*Tracer missle can CRIT for around 2k, probably less on a geared 50, and it has around a 2 second cast time. The only reason you think we spam it, is because its the first thing we have to use in a fight. Any good Merc will use 2 MAYBE 3 tracers at the start of a fight in order to get up their heat sigs on a target.

Learn the class before you complain about an ability that ISN'T most of our damage.

Rail shot*. There may be skilled mercenaries out there. I was just pointing out that you don't actually need to be skilled at all to play them. I've seen bads spam tracer and get 200k+ damage every warzone. JUST spamming tracer. AGAIN, let me say I am NOT complaining/whining/etc. Just pointing out that the class takes no skill to play. I melt mercs face every warzone.

This would just be WAY WAY to over powerful... which is why Bioware has taken the necessary steps we currently see in SWTOR.

LOL, lot's o' angry players!

Yup, I'm a Merc. The most I ever use Tracer is twice (2 times) in a row, to start a rotation. Usually I won't even do the 2nd, as I anticipate being interrupted, or know it will allow the enemy to get into melee range. (if they're fighting someone else, I'll do the 2nd)


1. Tracer isn't fully instant; it's takes a bit of time from keystroke to missile hit/damage
2. BH has to stay still to fire them; no movement
3. Auto-face only works for already-started attack (in other words, the BH was already facing you when they fired it)
4. Fusion Missile and Heat-Seeker both do more damage (and Unload and Rail, which will frequently Crit, do then as well)
5. Every WZ has lots of obstacles. (see # 1) It's so easy to 'duck' behind something, then pop back out and keep fighting. (I do this against other BH's and Commandos)
6. Tracer is interruptable


If you get killed by Tracer Spam.... there is but one response: "learn 2 play!!!"


Tracer Missile wasn't even close to a Merc's most powerful attack.
Suckwads spammed it, other suckwads lost to it.
Most apparently didn't even know they had an interrupt. Smart nerf, BW!
