Lack of common sense is a security risk in itself. That has nothing to do with mods.
has nothing to do with mods...?

Thats like saying car dealerships have nothing to do with cars.

[QUOTE=Blackardin;1655051]Once again, not true. Well, depends on the fights you are doing. Have you done Ragnaros? Have you progressed through Litch king? Have you tried some of the timing fights in Cata without Boss mods present? Have you done them on heroic? Have you tried to lead a progression raid not knowing exactly what your dps are doing, exactly when the fire was going to hit? or wiped at 1 or 2%?

Again, my contention is that mods ramp up content. Content becomes ramped up to the point where it will not be completed without

This is why the " if you don't like them don't use them" argument is invalid to me. Allowing mods in means the balance of difficulty changes for the entire game, whether I use them or not.
If healing is too difficult then the amount that is healed, cool down times etc. Need to be changed for the entire game.
If people really can't heal without mods, the problem isnt with the mods it is that the game itself needs adjusting.

Yes the UI may be kind of clunky, and it currently is a clunky that all players have to deal with. Mods do not make a game better, mods give an extra edge to those who use them.

Car dealerships don't have anything to do with cars if the discussion is whether or not people should be allowed to use them. Same as internet sites offering mods have nothing to do with a discussion about whether or not people should be allowed to use them.

A person who lacks the common sense to use a trusted site to download mods will get his or her trojan/virus/worm elsewhere even if there are no mods.

There are no fights in WoW that require addons in order for you to be successful even if the developers are creating them on the premise that most players will have certain ones. Addons allow customisation of the game and how it presents information to you, that's all. It doesn't give you magical powers or extra information that other players don't get.

Yes just as much as some nameless/faceless person saying "most trusted" site should be believed in simply because they said so should quell any security concerns. If I had a nickel for every post that said that I'd be rich…..oh and there wouldn’t be any virus threats, ever

Sites become trusted through use. The Curse network has become a trusted site because it has served the MMORPG community with a great security record for years and years. This is not just because some random internet person said it was trusted.

Furthermore, I think you missed the point that mods are not the security concern and that it's a common sense issue instead that has nothing to do with mods. Or you're throwing out a red herring to distract.

Macros are a staple in every MMO, how can you just not have them?
L2P!
Duh! You can move the chat around wherever you want. Mine is on the bottom left!
You can see all of your damage on the screen. It's called 'flytext'. Too much flytext? Disable everything except the damage you dish out.
Have you played every single MMO? No, You have not so you really have no fracking clue if every MMO uses macros. Because not every MMO needs/uses them and this happens to be just one of the many.
