Who said anything about WoW! I didn't!

But to answer your question, this is one good example of a genaral attitude with the LFG tool. As others have pointed out here, as is my own experience, people dumped in random PUG groups tend to not speak, rarely work together, and just want to get through the content as fast as possible and get ugly when something or someone slows that progress down.

That being said, I used the tool a lot, but don't sit here and say it supports "Community" when it clearly does not.

There is absolutely no factual or statistical basis to your assessment WHATSOEVER, you do understand that right?

-Cross Server PvP (we have seen what damage it caused)
-Cross Server Dungeon Finder (we have seen what damage it caused)
-The PvPers (in my eyes they are the biggest whiners ever. No mercy with that scum)
-E - Sports (have ALWAYS ruined an mmoRPG)
-Damage Meters etc (we have seen what it did)

Love me or hate me, I don't care.

That's all it is though, one example.

Did anything ever stop you from forming groups without the LFG tool?

Did anything ever stop you from talking to players on your own realm?

Or did you simply choose not to do these things and blame lack of community on LFG?

Anyone who advocates addons is. If you don't understand that, I feel for you.
Addons trivialize any content that wasn't designed with them in mind. Because it gives you information you otherwise wouldn't have.

Sorry I don't use aimbot or wall hacks in Battlefield.
And when I was forced to get addons in wow and spec my character to the cookie-cutter spec, i lost pretty much all of the little enjoyment I still had left for that game.

P.S. This is just an opinion, but i think that the current and continuing whittling away at wow's talent system is a direct effect from over-use of min-maxing. It is taking away variety..why even have talent trees in mmo's anymore? If someone is going to post a "perfect" spec and everyone must use it or be labeled "bad"?

Don't know why you think people should not have a problem with that.
DO you realize you are proving my point? I am not disagreeing with yo, but to take that fear and apply it to all addon and customization functionality is jsut ignorant.

Hey SWTOR players!!! Somewhere out there this guy with really antagonistic viewpoints about other players is out there playing in your community!! How do you feel about that?

I'm not seeing this utopian community that everyone is talking about -now-, without those tools in place, so I'm kinda wondering where everyone gets the idea that a couple addons would ruin something that clearly isn't there in the first place.

The old communities of Ultima Online, of yore, are gone. They died long before addons. We live with what we have now. You make the community you want to be a part of. If you don't help in making that community, then you have nobody to blame but yourself for being an outside. It isn't "ruined".

I just want a regular, SERVER ONLY dungeon finder-esque tool. Not cross-server. And some UI improvements for quality of life issues/extra buttons. (Like the idea that if you're in The Voidstar PVP warzone, the map actually COVERS UP part of one of your hotkey bars and it's not movable at all)

Damage meters, eh, take it or leave it. It's a non-issue. Nothing I've experienced in this game requires the kind of focus to require them. This is not a challenging game.

Lack of a LFD system has destroyed my interest in running dungeons.

Hmm, go quest and get experience, credits and xp.......or sit around a random period of time spamming LFG. Guess I'll go questing!

so is it safe to say that addons/lfg systems dont really destroy the community so much as "jerks" within the community destroy the community?
I play wow too. You jealous of my anime hair and ADD?
