Why the free to play with micro transactions would work for SWTOR

I wouldn't mind if SWTOR went F2P.

I have a new baby boy, a job that requires a lot of my time and I love spending time with my wife so I only have the spare time to play maybe once a week for a couple of hours. It will take me a long time to level in this game so buying quest packs (like LOTRO's format) would end up being cheaper for me than a monthly subscription.

However, with that being said, $15 a month is very little and saving a couple of dollars a month with the F2P model will make little difference to my wallet. I think the biggest benefit to a F2P model for SWTOR would be the lack of forum complaining about broken features as everyone could just keep responding "What do you expect, it's free?!" ;^)

It is out there, but don't care to do a search for it. Perhaps you should ask people to support their claim that in general people will always spend more then $15 per month on a free to play MMO. At least the good ones, like Lotro, you can easily spend less then $15.00 per month and not have a gimped character because of it.

Usually he is paying closer to $30 a month to stay competative.

Ill stick with a sub based $15 a month with all of my content and no stupid buff microtransactions that plague the F2P model, or as I like to call it the "Nickle and Dime" model.

If you want anything even remotely cool in a F2P game, be it a mount or a cool piece of gear, be prepared to pay IRL money for it.
No he isn't. Cause there is nothing in the store that is needed for raiding, not even competitively.

In a F2P Freemium model, only around 10% of subscribers are paying members while 90% are moochers. These 10% shoulder a disproportionate cost of the game. Another major problem with freemium games are gold sellers that infinitely plague the services. They are as resillient as cockroaches. In a P2P model at least the game operators can somewhat keep these gold spammers/sellers out (since it would cost them $40-60 per subscription account that got banned). While yes there has been a significant amount of F2P games lately and it is a massively growing market I think P2P is still the best way to spend your entertainment dollars.

Played it, my experience and that of others I played with in it, you are wrong.

Those others are only basing it from their experience and opinion, you on the other hand are clearly claiming yours as fact. So put up or... you get the picture.
Friend reference, you get 7 daysof free subscription,
free character transfer, and items mailed to all your characters.

So now you are claiming you know what another person is doing that you don't even know, on top of your other claims.

There is if they need him raiding now and at the top of his gear. You are going to have to pay for upgrades on legendaries, pay for relic removal for the new upgrade, oh and in 3 -6 months do it all over again for the next raid.

For someone that is a die hard player in a good guild they enjoy, hard to say no to that sort of thing.

Again, there is nothing on the store that is needed for raiding, not even the 2 additional LI equipment slots are needed at all, the game isn't balanced for those 2 other slots that can be bought. Also the relic system was revised that it has become much much easier to get the relics that you want, so there is very little need if any to purchase the item to unslot a relic.

Not to mention if he is a subscriber he gets 500 points per month, plus what ever points he gets just for playing the game.

Edit: also I have been following the forums for years now, and people have not been complaining about having to spend extra money to be able to raid. My brother is a VIP member, and has not spent any extra money on the game, and he is one of the top raiding guilds on his server.

Yeah so um your incorrect?
"Will there be a subscription fee for Guild Wars 2?
Nope. Like the original Guild Wars, there will be no subscription fee for Guild Wars 2. You just buy the game and play it online without paying a monthly fee."

OP feel free to edit this into your OP
No, I'm correct. Guild Wars 2 will not be free-to-play. It won't have a subscription free, but that's not the same thing as free-to-play. You and the OP are mistaken.

Oh, wait, here he is.
