How did they take away choice again? Companions are awesome. Mako's the best.
I did but, wasn't the point I was trying to make posting this thread, Because I do think its a great game but I hate having pets and always avoid those classes in other MMO's. However you are pretty heavily reliant on the pets in this game with every class.

The game is too easy. It wasn't just beta players rocketing to 50 before January. I bought the game about three weeks ago, leveled a gunslinger to 19 to (unnecessarily) familiarize myself with the game, and now have a 42 juggernaut that I've spent too many hours on sub-optimally with regards to leveling.

Because so many of the quests are so easy, because rewards are spoon fed entirely throughout the game, because I have a companion to cover up for any of my deficiencies and because of a quest tracking system that does everything short of actually teleporting me to the quest content and then teleporting me back to the quest giver, I can't help but feel the game is too easy.
Point is the game is based around the companions. They affect your story, they are literally the crafting system in the game, they are part of your class quests, they have their own quests, they also are important for combat, they get armored by you and everything. Its simply something that is ingrained into the game itself. Complaining you don't want companions in this game is like complaining that you see Gandalf in Lord of the Rings Online.

Its simply part of the game. I understand if you disagree with it, but I wouldn't buy Diablo 3 and then go "*** This has demons and hell and satan???" Bioware was never quiet about the amount of 'companion use' you'd have in this game before it was released.
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.

I love how Khem Val is a more reliable tank than Juggernauts or Guardians.

Could also be a throwback to the KOTOR games. Through much of the game you could have as many as 2 with you at a time. Your presence around them, your influence on them, would impact their story and thus your story. In KOTOR 2 I figured out how I could basically have a ship full of jedi's or turn them all into sarcastic jerks. Right now in SWTOR my companions are still kind of new and I have not come anywhere near to maxxing out my affection with them so I am curious to see what interesting conversations open up by having them along.

On the pure fighting/gameplay, they certainly can make battles easier, no doublt about that. I like the combinations where one of us is ranged and one is melee, that seems to work fairly well but I always wanna kick Kira when she jumps right on top of what I am doing. I am hoping to see a few more companions on my sage, just have C2N2 and Qyzen right now.

And its not bad enough you have to use one or die, but you are completely reliant on them to keep you alive, so basically this game forces you to rely on AI to play. Just sucks this is the route Bioware chose leaving the player with no real choice in the matter..putting your play in the hands of AI.
Not true at least for a BH. I can plow through normal mobs with silver elites attached to them. I can even down a gold elite 1v1 but need to blow some of my CD.

It is entirely possible, just much harder. Guess that's the difference between veteran MMO payers and a novice players.

All these cry babies on the forum screaming foul about this game...reminds me of my 2 year old. Just like I tell my 2 year old son, crying and whining like a baby will get you nothing.

I do respect and encourage those with solid/constructive criticism to post threads to help improve the game.

Not even necessary, depending on the class you are playing.

Really, any Advanced Class except maybe a Sorceror or Sage can solo any mission that is normally solo-able sans companion.

It may be a bit more challenging, but that's what makes it fun.

Only the meek get pinched. The bold survive.

I am defiantly what you would call novice as I work allot and don't have not a ton of time to play games, but I really do enjoy playing, wish I could devote more time.

anyone who says companions are "optional" is deluding themselves. Every single mob/pack in this game is designed with the assumption you have a companion present. Doing level appropriate content solo...yeah not happening, get ready to die against any strong/elite mob and rest/sit for 30 seconds after every single pack of weak mobs to refill your almost fully depleted hit point bar. All the people saying to overlevel the content so you can solo it (are you retarded?) Who wants to do grey quests that provide no challenge and give zero XP?

Furthermore, certain companions are even REQUIRED to proceed through your class story line..that is, you can not go any further unless that companion is present. So yeah. Als

with or without your companion you should not be able to see or feel the difference when you level. they should be not either an advantage or disadvantage and we all know this is not he case
