It's better than throwing in some half assed system that has no purpose for now. And it doesn't stop you from gaining levels until then. But your mindset is that of many, I WANT IT NOW!

(this part not directed to you Kloss but the haters who troll)
The best part of this all is there are other games out there that you love and are having such a hard time with the fact this game isn't it. None of them have shut down but SWG because of SWTOR. So you CAN go back to them but stop with these threats that this game is dying b/c you are leaving. No one gives a **** if you leave people, don't you understand that NO ONE CARES!
May the common SENSE be with you, ALWAYS!

Nah thats the fighter genre.

Honestly, FPS don't need to really be more innovative. They are fun as hell.

Really the only innovation games can be needing the some sort of virtual aspect involved in the game. Until then games will remain to be pretty much clones of themselves with nifty new features or better graphics(hopefully).

What i find innovative:

My character has a personality due to options and full questing dialogue which may be the norm This may not be a big deal to a typical action gamer, but for someone like me who grew up on RPG like the original Ultima games, story means more than action. That being said i still love the action in the game.

The second one, it's actually fun
. I haven't had fun in an MMO in years and quit playing them for quite a while now. I'll try the first 30 days and quickly lose interest within that time. That isn't the case with SWTOR, i am having a ton of fun and resubbed for 6 months.

Mileage may vary, but the nice thing is we aren't all robots and we don't all like the same games. I really feel sorry for people that can't understand this and run around on forums for games they don't like crying like a little brat because people have a different opinion than they do.

More vehicles (taxis and mounts) than other mmos
Shielding/dodging in 360 degree radius
Combat animations in 360 degrees
Cover mechanic
Less rigid adherence to the mmo trinity than most mmos
Way more crafting diversity and gathering skill usefulness
More diverse and useful cc
Lightsabers
Heroic areas/quests
Surnames
Immersive lore via codex
it doesnt have destructible environments
4 tiers of mobs = lol?
more vehicles = wut
shielding/dodging = ok i like this
combat animations in 360 = ok i like this
cover mechanic = heavily broken, I play sniper, have fun rolling into mobs half the time you hit the cover button, the other half of the time you cant see the mob because you're covered behind something weird.
mmo trinity = not sure what you're talking about
crafting diversity and usefulness = all crafting gear is useless at 50
diverse and useful cc = the cc is copied straight from WoW, none of it even works as well or as fluidly
lightsabers = swords
heroic areas/quests = i dont even
surnames = EQ1
immersive lore = ok i like this

Sell All Grey Items vendor button
Auto-stacking for items entering and leaving the bank
Crew Skill materials deposited directly into the bank
Global LFG channel/Better LFG system
Better PvP matching (based on valor and groups?)
Better GTN interface )
Round your light/dark side points for those with diplomacy
Shift Click Names to get /who information (and in Right Click Menu)
Groups stay grouped after a warzone
Ability to unbind the \ key from opening the ticket creation window
Option to auto sort inventory by rating/type/price.
Customizable UI (scale, moveable, etc too much to list)
Allow multiple gumps to be present on screen and the ability to drag them around with their position remembered. No more companion returning from a mission and closing you out of a vendor.
Icons on Operations Frames to denote player role, determined by their talent tree, to quicker way to realize who is a Healer, DPS, or Tank.
Macro system
Dual-spec
Heroic Repeatable Quests appear as a different color on the map after you've completed it for the first time. (light blue)
Character idle animations, such as rolling arm to relieve shoulder pain, studying your new armor, brushing dust off of self, looking off into the distance. Characters are statues as of now.
Moving items into Vault and vice versa should stack with any previous stacks of said item.
Items purchased from a commendations vendor can be sold back for a full commendation refund before it is used/equipped.
Vehicles allowed in spaceports.
Target of target
Weapons Preview
Combat Log
Roll Function
Day/Night Cycles
Ability to mute companions
Server forums
Ability to keybind space combat controls
Swimming
Better raid frames (debuffs are incredibly tiny)
Dark/Light side requirements on lightsabers/relics. If you want them you are forced to gain alignment a certain way and not choose whatever you want.
Deserter debuff for warzones
LFG comments get cut off
Training dummies
Guild Hall/Ship
Guild Bank
Specific AC icons on PVP scorecard
Allow to see scorecard during a warzone and not just the end
Tab targeting doesn't always work correctly

None of these are innovative, just standard for mmo's.
I hereby dub thee His Royal Highness, Nit Pickington, Prince of Whines, Duke of Complaints.

Yeah, but i guess it depends on what each player likes.

For me, If this game did not have the voice acting and unique class story....there wouldnt really be anything left, that is worth it, to play in this game.

If you take out the "frill" as you call it, then all thats left is a poor copy of WoW.

I Like Legacy concept, dont get me wrong, i like any system that lets me progress my character development. I'm just not buying the argument that it's not in the game yet, because they want to make it really good. Easier explanation is they just dont have a clue of how is it going to work yet themselves...and i'm affraid in the end we'll get something that they put together one late night with a help of few cases of beer.

Yay, we get a post from the most prestigious of all baseless SWTOR haters!

Have you ever played an MMO where the quest givers talk to you about the quest with actual voice actors?

Have you played one with stored conversation choices? Choices that effect your character in future quests?

Have you ever played an MMO where the full Story elements don't end after level 10, but continue all the way to Max level?

Have you ever played an MMO where you had a companion that talked to you, learned affection toward you based on your actions, and was an integral part of your combat tactics?

These are all called innovations, and they are not minor or dismissible. They are HUGE in fact. I will never play another MMO with Quest Text. I tried to, and it just sucks too bad. I like having my gameplay be inside a Movie instead of the same old quest text.

Having every minor feature other MMOs have developed over the last 5 years does not make it innovative. Those things will be added over time.

Nope and i've never played an MMO where i can actually choose to have a personality for my character. Refreshing change.

Swtor also has:

Spamable rest ability ooc
Rezing where you die without running back
More intuitive 4 man grouping and content to match
Small raid content at release (so you don't have to round up 40 players)
Romance
Npc interaction in general only swtor allows actual convos
Social point system
Affection which benefits crafting
Wow was copying Mario Brothers in every respect.
-A world (or many worlds)
-the color red in game
-you have to buy it
