Agree. Played WoW at release. It was a mangled mess imho. In the first 2 to 3 months, the patches majorly revamped a ton of things, making it much more enjoyable. That isn't even taking into account they needed to credit 22 free days to make up for the 22 of 60 down days where the server ran off on flights of fancy those first 2 months.

Not saying I adore this game as is. A lot of work needs to be done. But I'll wait, watch, and see where it's heading. A lot usually happens in the first few major patches.

Don't get me wrong, I like the game , it's fun and I enjoy playing BUT, let's be honest here...it's not challenging at all (unless you are a total noob who draws adds), there really is no real threat of dying every time you step off the shuttle and onto a new planet.

Agreed. I used to be at work and think about SWG all the time, at home my wife would get up at 3am to yell at me to get to bed. This game is so simple it's ridiculous. I played that other MMO WoW, and while I enjoyed it somewhat, I felt it was too dumbed down. This game is even more dumbed down than that.

My opinion:

The game overall although i may not sound like im enjoying i am, to a degree.

Ok i was expecting more tbh, bland graphics, everything so predictable and is nothing new in the slightest, for a brand new mmo its very underwhelming.

PvP -
My worst experience of PvP in a mmo yet, it really is terrible, bad all round 1/10

Leveling -
I have enjoyed the starters planets so far so not bad.
Then came Corruscant, brown and boring and tedious quests although it is not so bad it starts to drag once you get here.
Then Taris, omg what happened here, worst zone in history, poor design that sends a player across the whole map to get to something next to them because of a badly placed ruin etc, and boy does this go on forever, ill never go back to this place again if i can help it.
You have another choice, Shadda, wth! its Corruscant AGAIN with neons lights placed all over.
As you can see by now the buzz has been drained from the player.
Remove Corruscant and combine it with Shadda and make one awsome location called yes Corruscant.
Redesign the awful Taris as it badly needs it.
Score for this? 5/10

Quests -
You got it, go kill 30 of them , then 20 of them or camo painted over with voice dialogue.
Not the worse though but far far from the best by a mile
Score 6/10

Graphics -
Graphics should not be main factor but is part of this immersion thing, and sadly SWTOR doesnt have that, dated graphics from the start.
Score 6/10

Content -
Another MMO i played for a bit was STO, awful content drove us all away and rightly so im glad SWTOR has content so far thaqt i can see (not talking about end game), but this is grinding content as in they are all basically the same, Taris anyone? no thanks.
Score 7/10

Population
So many servers...... why is there so many? close some and put more players on the same server. Seems to be plenty of players playing the game at the moment though and thats good.

Future Longevity
Nothing new here at all, you can see why its compared to WoW simply because although WoW copyied others SWTOR is more or less a big rip off of WOW. No uniqueness and nothing new (GW2 anyone?).

I yet dont know what end game content there is bit SWTOR does have the look and feel of TFP in a few years time as its a MMO that is nothing new or dares to challenge any bariers.

I can see the boring planets and quests ie Corruscant then Taris then Shadda (Corruscant) making players run out of steam, i know that i cant be bothered now as i dont want to do awful Taris again and other choice is Corruscant 2 (Shadda).
Score Cant decide its too early.

I think the buzz is there at the moment but in a few months it may die down and SWTOR could struggle especially with the new breed in the works.

BW missed a big boat here, but i am still playing just not sure for how long.

All theyd need to do to keep me going full steam enjoying the game is replace shaada and redo taris and sort out this god awful PvP.

Overall Score:
6/10
Final Word:
Played any 10yr old MMO? then this is what you will get from SWTOR.
Ultimately becomes boring after you leave Corruscant and the game has a terrible PvP system.
You will still more than likely still enjoy this game with its outdated looks and systems but the fun may not last long and this could be a MMO to play to tie one over for awhile, although its expensive to do that in this game.
Ultimately and being 100% honest there is and are to be alot more better MMO's without a shadow of doubt.
Id look on SWTOR as a gamble, because its not Brilliant by a long shot but it is not the worst.

Fancy being a Jedi that cant even kill a stormtrooper? SWTOR is for you lol

then you go on to say that the mmo formula is proven and it is proven to work. which is basically saying if you dont follow the mmo formula then it is proven to fail. so you bash them for not INNOVATING or being DIFFERENT but then say they would fail if they did INNOVATE or do something DIFFERENT than every other mmo out there.

so let me ask this question. what game are you gonna play since this game is the same as every other mmo with no INNOVATION or did not EXPAND on what came before it. according to what you say you wont be happy with any mmo out on the market, since they are all the SAME and they dont INNOVATE or havent EXPANDED on what came before it.

ps: dont ask why i used random caps, the op did it so i thought it would be fun.
Theres a formula for how to create them, that doesn't mean you can't add some cajun power to spice things up................................................ ..................

I think this is a pretty good observation. Maybe it wasn't all that you thought about, but there was definitely that strong urge to play, and play with other people. I think newer plays have an advantage, because this is there first taste of this type of gameplay experience. Maybe the rest of us are just drug addicts that need something more and different to try to get that initial rush that we first experienced.

If the game is so lame, why are you wasting time on the forums??? I'm here cause I enjoy the game, got a good guild, good friends, working on endgame content and just having pure fun. I come to the forums to read about the game and get a good laugh every once in awhile.

Most people aren't going to take your complaining seriously because if you don't like the game, but sit around on the forums crying about it...it's just pathetic. I mean it's one thing to complain about certain parts, but if you have just given up and unsubscribed but continue to post on these forums it's a) sad and b) a little bit psychotic.

I know it's hard to believe when the majority of your life consists of a tiny bedroom and a computer, but most people don't give a flying **** about you or what you have to say.

I agree if i buy a car in 2012 i expect it to have 2012 technology / features not from a decade ago..
Well, new features like what? Compared to WoW, you have the immersive experience of the class line of quests and the fact that all quests (save a few) have complete voice acting to further get the feel of the game. The graphic are very good, the game play fun and the basic mechanics enjoyable.

If I use your comparison, a car 10 years ago did not have a plug for iPods or, for that matter, an audio jack for an MP3 player.

But guess what? A car ten years ago had a steering wheel, a gas pedal, a brake pedal, a hand brake, gauges on the dashboard (either digital or analog, but then the dash was there too!), and etc...

Some things will remain the same. Graphics could be even better, but they are aiming for the maximum of people that can play the game with their existing hardware, on with a minor (100$ to 200$) upgrade.

As an aside, I am not a big endgame player. I am playing this game to get the KoTOR fun I had with version 1 and 2. A rumor for a KoTOR 3 came out years ago and it turns out that... this is it.

Once I have played the classes to level 50 to get the stories, I may then quit the game. And if they add something in the future and my account was not deleted (as Blizzard does for WoW), I may come back, do the additional levels and stop once there.

I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

People keep yelling about judging the game on its own merits, and not based on the merits of the games that came before it, but unless you live in a bubble or could somehow erase your memories, that is just NOT REALISTIC. Maybe its not fair, but what comes after previous games/content NEEDS to innovate, and EXPAND upon what has come before. It is just not enough to EMMULATE. Sure, black and white TV's are awesome. Now give us color. Now give us 3D. Bigger, better, brighter not just diferent packaging.

The current MMO formula is proven, people like carrots. Gear carrots, skill carrots, level carrots. So as much as any game has those things, they will be at least minimally successful. But if you have been chasing carrots for 13, 7, 5 years, you DEMAND something more substantive from your gaming experience. Give your audience something new, not just left overs with some added seasoning.
I hope you find something that will interest you.
