You can argue that gaining electrostaves is 'useless' all you want, but it is not true. The weapon serves a purpose and can be equipped while you use a good portion of your abilities. It has a function therefore by definition it is not useless. Would you be gimping yourself by equipping it? Yes, of course, the same way you'd be gimping yourself as a protection Paladin equipping a two handed weapon. The majority of your abilities require one-handed weapons and a shield, but you still have the option to equip a two-handed weapon if you so desire.
Yes it does still use the light-saber...
Charge is the Base of the Sith Assassin (For DPS and for Tank).
Without charge, you can't play ur classe. That is the bottom line.
You can play a jedi knight with medium armor... but you can't play a with assassin without charges...
Yesterday we killed the HK-47 for the 4th time...
1- Electro Staff
2- Quel Dromas Light Saber
3- Long Shot (i think thats the name of the OP wep)
4- Electro Staff

Awsome, 50% of our MH drop (HK is THE boss that drops the Tier MH) was for companions only ?

Not having any luck there.

Out of interrest, you said for the 4th time.

What was in the other drops?

Because 3 out of 8 (this drop and the previous one) sounds like a lot of companion stuff, but if you got none the first 2 times then it becomes 3 from 16 items, which is a small percentage.

Sorry, maybe I explained it badly.

We killed the HK-47 in False Emp 4 times only

the 1st kill was the Electro Staff
The 2nd kill was the Quel Dromas
The 3rd Kill was the Long Shot
The 4th Kill was the Electro Staff again

2 out of 4 (50%), was the Electro Staff...
Ya, prolly alot of bad luck, but this shouldn't happend.

The MH is pretty much the most important drop (ok, not the most, but one of them), and we are getting anything good...

The only item that was used from those 4 drops was the Long Shot for our healer... the rest was wasted ;/

We are discussing if we are going back to False Emp.... dosen't seem like, it takes too long...

A couple of weeks ago we killed HK in false Emp Hard Mode.
I got the Electro Staff from it.

Since I am an assassin, and the only class in the game that can use it (assassin + Shadow), I took it.

When I equiped I found out I coulnd't use maul, or the charges anymore.
Those skills all require double-bladed lightsaber...

IMO that makes no sense, for 3 reasons.
1st - the marauder / jugger can use the vibro sword and use all their skills
2nd - i am the only class in the game that can equip it, so I assume I can use it.
3rd - it is an epic drop from a hard mode for a companion only ?

Well, I opened a ticket to ask about this, and meanwhile I gave it to my companion.
1 week later (yes, 1 week), a "droid" (staff) contacted me to discuss the issue.

He started the conversation saying: "Electro Staff is a companion only weapon, that is why you can't equip it"...

I was like, "***?" I can equip it...
So, even after I wrote a 10 lines ticket, I explained the issue again. His answer was:
"Oh, so you can equip it ? now I get it, let me look in my resources for an answer".
a few minutes later he tells me:

"Sith assassins are an advanced classe from Sith inquisitor that focus on martial expertise"

Ya... Thanks for teaching me how to play my class...

Once again I explained him what was going on...
He answered: "sith assassins requires double-bladed lightsaber in order to use their most damage skills"...

After that I got a lil bit pissed and asked to talk to a "Senior droid"...
I have been waiting for 3 days now...

Anyway...

The staff who answered me is COMPLETLY unprepared and has NO IDEA of what the game is and how it is played.
I am VERY disapointed at Bioware for that, and I AM STILL waiting for an answer regarding this subject...

in the meantime my companion will still use the electrostaff....
You should have logged a bug report rather than talking to a CS rep about it. I'd be surprised if CS reps actually play the game.

But the Electro Staff in question is Willpower based, that is why is not 1 per class.

Maybe you are right...
maybe I should have done that... but that does not change the fact the he had no idea what was going on...

This open for question... if he dosen't play the game, what is he good for ?

Well, back in the UO days, the Staff was awsome...
Of course they would reply "I can't help you with that", but every counselor / GM new the game... new what was going on....

May you should submit a ticket on this issue.

The game is new. If you had posed your question to James Ohlen himself he most likely would have been able to give you an answer without consulting someone else.

The game mechanics speak for themselves. You can not use certain abilities with said weapon. Most her state that it is a companion weapon. I think you have your answer.

As for the weapon, I can tell you for 100% certainty that Marauders cannot use it. Most of our high level abilities specifically require two lightsabers.
To be honest? If they don't know *** they are talking about then yeah..they shouldn't answer the question at all, or give it to someone that can, because answering the question with obvious bs and a copy paste tactic of dribble only makes it worse.

Is it an unfortunate thing you can't use it? yeah but eh, it's one of those things. Toss it to your companion, let him/her have some fun with it. They are people and have feelings after all, from what I've been told by some forum users.
