Have you paid any attention to Corso's story, OP? If so, you've realize that using him to make your point is silly.

It's kinda bewildering actually. Here I am, a dashing outlaw with no love for the Republic, and my first mate is running around dressed like a gd enlisted man.
Another fine case of not paying attention to Corso's story.

I'd love to hear this.

Make the slave bikini wearable by male characters, too.

I know, right?

What's worse is that there's no male equivalent of the slave bikini that I know of.

I'd love for my trooper to be running around in a stylish tuxedo or something along those lines...
"Skill" is the only PvP stat anyone should ever need.

You realize this is just because tanking companions can wear any heavy armor right? So while people are lvling up they use the armor they are not or in my case I use the heavy armor I pick up for my companion.....kinda makes sense.....

Doesn't matter if Corso was military at one point in his life.

In the here and now, where it matters, he is a hired gun / mercenary / smuggler / civillian.

He is not a trooper. He is not a soldier in the Republic Army and he is certainly not a member of Havoc Squad, an elite special forces unit, that supposedly, only has 2-6 members, depending on where you are in the story.

So why does every piece of armor in the known Republic galaxy bear the Havoc stamp? Yet Empire armor, looks civillian?

/sigh

Because the devs didn't diversify their loot tables and armor models enough.

Doesn't matter that Corso was a soldier or trooper or whatever at one time.

He isn't anymore. He's running with me, a smuggler, and I'd like for him to look like one!

---edit---

Additional question to the devs:

Would it be difficult to port over some of the BH armor models on the Empire side, to be green drops on Republic side for companions?
Look, we got four or five of the main characters on this ship. I think we're gonna be okay.

I have to admit that this really annoys me, as well. Speaking only about the companions I have had thus far, the Jedi companions look like Jedi... well, okay, or droids. Trooper companions look like troopers. And smuggler companions look like... a Jedi or a trooper?

Corso is not a trooper. He's a mercenary. And my leather jacket-clad Captain is less than thrilled to be traveling the galaxy spreading her own special brand of sunshine accompanied by Corso Riggs, Havoc Squad Wannabe, or even Corso Riggs, No I'm Not a Jedi I Just Dress Like One. She'd very much prefer Corso Riggs, Who Does Not Dress Like Organized Military Or A Jedi But Instead Like A Merc.

There are decent black legs available in heavy armor, at least where I'm at level-wise, but the chest pieces? Not so much. Is it really unreasonable to want armor options with the Aim/Endurance stats for smuggler companions that are a better fit for the character's class, storyline, and personality? Is something in a lovely outlaw black too much to ask?

Oh, and forget the cross-gender slave bikini. We girls should have the option to put our boys in man-thongs.
Send lawyers, guns, and creds... on second thought, just send creds

It does get to be a bit disconcerting, and it certainly feels like Jedi Knights and Troopers have ideal companions, while Smugglers and Jedi Consulars get the shaft.

From the time you leave Ord Mantell through about half of Courscant (depending on when you upgrade Corso) he looks as you would imagine. Civillian, wearing some armor, similar to a Bounty Hunter.

But after about Level 17, the options REALLY drop off it seems.

Funny thing is, the Smuggler mentions on several occasions that he has a disdain for Republic forces (ala Han Solo in Episode IV regarding Imps) and tries to avoid them at all costs. Yet, standing right next to him is a guy dressed just like the soldiers he is trying to avoid!

What is up with that?

I have to wonder if there is a way to cross-faction trade, similar to the "black market" that existed in WoW where people would bring armor and weapons "across the line" via the Booty Bay and Tanaris Auction Houses. If that were the case, one could grab some BH armor from the Empire and outfit Corso and Qyzen in that.

I just haven't found a way, and not sure if such a thing exists.

The trooper armor on Corso does bug me, but mostly because it makes him look like he volunteered to help out a kindergarten class with their latest tempura paint project. I actually like that he looks more heavily armored than my Sawbones though, because he is a tank and it seems fitting that he looks like the meat shields that he is. xD

BUT, I also wish that there was some more "civilian" looking heavy armor. BH stuff would be perfect, really. And from the story line so far, I can't imagine his character wanting to wear the Republic's military uniform.

I have my Corso decked out mostly in (orange) Jedi gear, anyway, since finding Trooper gear that actually matches is quite a PITA as a Smuggler. At least mismatched Jedi, Smuggler, or BH gear doesn't look like a rainbow.

umm stop equiping your companions with trooper gear? seriously plenty of designs never ran into this syndrome as of yet. my friend and my companions are pretty unqiue looking, juts have to find right modable gear that is all is to it.
