DPS meters cause abuse and take away choice!

Hi all,

I know this topic has been talked about, but I'd just like to bring it up again hoping that Bioware sees this and NEVER allows one in game that shows other players DPS while grouping. Not only does it cause elitists to harass other players, but it also FORCES people to spec into whatever the FTM spec is with their class instead of just choosing what they're having the most fun with. If a certain spec is better but completely un-fun, you're going to be harassed to no end until you're forced to switch just to stop the bashing.

I'm all for a training dummy and personal DPS meter to maximize your OWN DPS rotations, but adding a "recount" type add-on does NOTHING but kill fun. If bosses are dying, who cares who did the most DPS? If you keep failing, it's a lot better to ask the entire group to pick it up over singling out certain players and harassing them. Which is what happens in other MMOs.

As an example, for anyone who has played a Mage in WOW, you'll know how utterly boring being an arcane mage is. You literally use two, maybe three abilities the entire time. But, a spec like frost, which is more fun to play does less damage in PVE, so you would be harassed to no end if you were to try to play this spec instead.

Group DPS meters ruin fun and promote harassment! Keep that crud out of this game.

If you are running dungeons no one is going to care. If you are trying to raid with a crummy spec than you are a drain on your guild. Your points are invalid.

It should just be an option to display or not display as you like. Find people to group with you don't mind if you don't display. Let others that want to see and want to share do so. If someone won't group unless you choose to display... find someone less serious to group with. Win for everyone.

That is why you have seen the members in action in Dungeons before going to Ops with them..

I agree with the OP. Meters dont belong in a fantasy setting game. Leave some mystery and debate.

Otherwise it's just spec this way, rotate damage this way. Rinse and repeat. Bleh!
